when do you get D-Day appointments

#1 Post by AnnR »

How far in advance did you guys get your d-day appointments? I was just wondering if it was days, weeks or months in advance?

I was hoping that my 18 month target is on track but I daren't ask in case I'm disappointed!

My ortho hasn't mentioned it although he did say he would start the finishing off with elastics "soon". No idea when "soon" is - he said it 10 weeks ago and not mentioned it since, his definition of soon is not mine!!

I have a long way to go before I get to that frustration, but knowing myself, I will be relentlessly pinning the ortho down...and if he wont give me a date, I will ask him why he's not giving me a date...then I will tell him what I think the date should be!!!

My ortho hinted that we were "nearly there" for about 3-4 months, and then, three weeks ago said very casually (no trumpet fanfare!) "Let's take these off next time"!!! "Next time" was yesterday!!! Can't tell you how much I have been smiling today! Good luck!

I just hit my 18-month mark last week (with an initial target of 24 months), so I tried to be sly and slide the question in. Aw heck, I just asked straight out, "So... 6 more months, you think?" and smiled really BIG. He said, "Yeah, I think that's reasonable." I was so stoked that day, but the more I look at my teeth, the more I think it might be a bit longer. It all depends on what can reasonably be fixed, and what cannot.

Congrats, Sandpiper!!

I got my d date on September 19th. Not that I got my braces off then, I just got to book the appointment. I get my braces of December 12th, so I was told just shy of 3 months prior.

How do you find out your debrace day? Do they inform you or do you need to ask? I also am nervous to find out the answer...Anyone else have thoughts or experiences...

I was told that he'd have a look in 2 visits (3 months) but that came and he still wanted to tweak a bit so it was a further 6 weeks. so 18 weeks before debanding I was told that we were finishing up.

Hope this helps.
