I am free! I can't believe it. Debanding was interesting. Sort of felt like I was having my teeth removed as he approached each ceramic bracket and then as he pulled them forward (must've kept the wire in or perhaps it was the powerchain) it felt like he was peeling my teeth off. HE then used a drill to grind off the glue and gave my teeth a good polish. No pain at all, just a bit of pressure. I was surprised at how big my teeth felt and how smooth they felt under my top lip.
I had impressions taken and will pick up my retainer tomorrow. Although it felt strange at first and I daren't bite down with them I have so far demolished half a crusty loaf and hoping to have a mocha and a curry some time soon too.
Wish I could upload a pic but my camera needs charging so will try to get a pic up in a few days.
Was estimated 12-14 months and my ticker says 10 months and 3 weeks. Great! No way perfect but pretty good for less than 11 months and no extractions or ipr. Not sure how the space was created besides a slight overjet but I'm happy.
What nobody mentions is the awkward feeling you have when braces go on is repeated when they come off and you wonder if people have noticed or not.
I got mine off last week too it's great! It took a bit of getting used to, felt like part of my identity was gone haha. I keep getting paranoid they're moving back too, but I just make sure to keep my retainer on at night.
Only a few people even noticed when I got them off Maybe the others just didn't want to mention it. I've still got my lower brace on until some time next year unfortunately, so still have to be careful what I eat.
I completely know what you mean. I've spent so long getting used to a brace that now I feel like I'm just plain again if that makes sense. I also feel a bit like I've forgotten how to smile. Did you?
I saw my in-laws this morn and I'm sure they must have noticed but they never said so maybe they didn't notice. I've told my friends and now I'm worried that they'll look at my mouth too much lol.
Yeh, I know what you mean, I was so used to hiding my smile pre-braces, and now it's weird smiling without my braces there! I'm still getting used to smiling without thinking about it I'm sure within a few months we'll forget what it was even like to have braces

Wow!! lucky you!!
I'd settle for less than perfect too if it meant an early release! Well done you and enjoy your new smile!
Many congratulations! I have been free for a week, and it does take a little getting used to. I've had no problem beaming at everyone, though! I have bonded retainers, and picked up my removable hawleys yesterday. The ortho shook me by the hand, wished me well, and said "See you in 6 months", which was actually the weirdest thing - I know his office so well! Look forward to seeing your pics.
