My Ortho installed a stainless steel, non-flexible archwire on both the top and bottom. In addition, I now have a silver powerchain on top! As soon as that was put on I felt the pressure immediately BUT I'm happy because that's where the spaces are that I've been most concerned about and most anxious to have GONE! I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks on me, but 2 days later it already seems like the spaces are minimizing.
I also had the bottom archwire extended to my back teeth. My bottom teeth have aligned very well in the last three months.
My gums and teeth feel extremely sore, and it hurts to touch my top teeth to the bottom, and eating has once again become an adventure. I had just about gotten used to eating with braces but this powerchain has changed things up a bit, because of the soreness...ow ow ow!
My next appointment is 12/14! I sure hope I'm done with treatment sometime in 2012
