I had a big sore from the top whire when it was just installed. It lasted for the whole 2 or even 3 weeks. That area on the inner cheek was constantly inflammed and irritated. I tried to ignore it, but eventually started using their wax and it releived the sore within a few days. I am not using the wax now, but it never came back. I still have a little bit of tissue thickening in that area, but it does not bother me at all.
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

I have no formal dental or orthodontic education. Hence, all opinions expressed by me on this forum are those of an "informed consumer" and by no means intended as an expert advice.

This is good to know. My most recent adjustment put a wire digging into the lower left of my jaw/gum, and I was trying to tough it out, but it sounds like I should call my ortho. I'll also get that pain reliever. I've had a splitting headache all week and now I think it's due to this pain.
