Hi guys
Anyone noticed any facial changes since you got your braces on? I used to like my facial structure a lot but since getting my braces I feel like things have taken turn for the worse. I keep telling myself that my face just look the way it does because of the bulky braces and when they're gone, it'll look fabulous again. My question is, has anyone experienced the awkward, bulky brace face or it's just me? HELP!
Yeah I think it is quite obvious sometimes when people are braces, it looks like they are holding something in their mouth 24/7 and also their lips get bigger because the brackets lift them outwards.
My lips have definitely gotten larger since getting braces and I LOVE it!! I really hope they don't go back to the way they were pre-braces when I get my braces removed, but I have a feeling that will be the case.
Oh well. In the meantime I will enjoy my pumped-up pout!
I also did get bigger lips and I think my face look a bit different. A good friend of mine also noticed. But I am sure lips will go back to the normal fulness after braces removal. However, since teeth were moved facial changes are expected. In my case, I hope for the best. I don't like the way my mouth looks right now with braces because they exaggerate my overjet, but I know once the treatment is over, I will look a lot better without the effect of the 8 mm overjet. Also, without the crowding
I liked my lips before braces, they were full enough and now look fuller and I am not happy about that, but I am sure that will change after debanding.
My ortho told me my lips will be bigger permanently because the braces are going to lift my teeth out at an angle whereas now they are leaning inward, giving me small lips.
Yes, my face has changed a little. It looks bit skinnier now, before braces, my face was rounder. I like the way my profile looks now, it's like my face is a bit more even. I don't really know if my lips have gotten bigger because I've always had big, full lips.
I only have the top ones on the last few weeks, but in the last week it looks like I have a swollen top lip. My sis said I look like a I got some lip plumper put in! I look kind of gormless, it reminds me of a fat worm sitting there. Hopefully when I get the bottom ones on, it will even out. The rest of my face seems the same though, but as I said, they are only in a short while.
There have definitely been some changes for me, like my lips were pretty plump even before braces but now they're extra plumpy.
Also I've had 4 extractions and I've noticed that my smile lines around my lips have severely diminished and my cheekbones are slightly more prominent...
I've always been very thin so I'm not sure how much of this will change after I get unbraced... really full lips and really small face would make me look like I came out of a Tim Burton movie...
