What's wrong with my front teeth?

#1 Post by Leilo0 »

Hello everyone
I've posted on here before about my concerns re: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtop ... 13&t=41422
Well, Ive pointed out my concerns to my dentist and he postponed my braces removal for two months to address these issues.
I'm again scheduled for removal this June but have this nagging feeling that my front teeth still looks "off"
Plus my right upper and bottom teeth is not meeting when I close my bite. Am I just being too much of a perfectionist?
I think the right tooth is still a little forward and in a weird angle.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I think your concerns are really valid - it does look like that maybe when they have been closing all your spaces - the levelness of your teeth has been affected? It looks like you just need a bit more detailing and finishing - particularly with that front tooth as you mention. They can often do that with a few tweaks in the wires cant they? My daughter is at a similar stage to you - and the orthodontist was explaining all of this bit to us on our last visit. Her teeth look incredibly similar to yours, but he wants to really perfect the occlusion and midline before hers come off in late June. It would be a real shame for you to get them off too soon, and not be happy with your result - particularly with that front tooth as you mention. Good luck!

libbylou, thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
I'm just frustrated as to why my dentist cannot see that my teeth aren't "quite there yet" and have been attempting to remove it since March. - and I am never explained what is being done. Im scheduled for removal next appointment but would def bring this up. I paid too much money for this to not be happy of the end result

Thanks for listening. Would love to see how your daughter's turns out after removal if you happen to post up any pics!

Good luck Leilo! They don't look right just yet, I would definitely keep trying to get your point across with your orthodontist. Did you end up seeing someone else about the issue like was suggested in your last thread?

I'm having some problems with scheduled removal and myself being rather unhappy with a large gap after my canine and also my midline being off by about 1-2mm to the left. I know what you mean about wanting it perfect. I don't mind a few more months if I'm 100% happy and never have to get braces ever again haha :) BEST OF LUCK!!

I had the same problem before debanding that one front tooth became slightly 'dominant' over the other one, in my case it was a tooth they pulled forward to make my smile look more even. I have noticed that most people have a bit of unevenness to some extent or other as front teeth are never exactly the same shape, not like twins. And like the other poster said they look like they just need a final bit of finessing to be near perfect....

mine have evened out nicely in the settling phase, also a bit of neat filing helped out immensely.

Your teeth look amazing, by the way!!!

Difficult to tell from the photos but the anteriors still seem like they are rotated, and there may be incorrect root tip on the upper incisors. Keep in mind also that due to the shape of your incisal edges, the teeth may not look perfect until incisal equilibration/filing is done for them. Having the dentist take a progress panoramic x-ray should be able to give a better view of the tip of the teeth. Good luck.
