starting to lose faith in my ortho...

#1 Post by itsabouttime22 »

ok- I just had to vent for a minute- and ask if this plan of action makes any sense...

A while back in my treatment my ortho started closing my extraction gaps (bottom molars were removed), then she realized that my back teeth were crooked so she wanted to work on getting them upright again, in the process my gaps re-opened (they were just about closed all the way). About December she decided to go ahead and close them again, and spent the last few months up until my April adjustment closing them to the point they were almost closed again. Well, at my April apt she decided she needed to start rotating one of my teeth, which was fine, but she did not powerchain the extration gaps and in 2 weeks they are almost completely opened again! Now it is going to take months to close them back again!

I am so frustrated- I don't know why she is spending all this time closing the gaps if she is just going to let them open again- does this make sense to anyone? I'm starting to think she doesn't know what she is doing. I got upset with her the first time the gaps opened up- and I feel like I am going to explode on her at my next adjustment. I was supposed to have these things off by now, and now my treatment has been set back again. I never would have gotten braces if I new they would take so long- they are really ruining my life!

so how long is she expecting you to now be left in the braces? If it is much longer could you get a 2nd opinion from another ortho if she is handling the situation correctly?
