Three cheers for ortho staff with braces!

#1 Post by jem »

Lulupops registered on this site recently saying one of her main motivations for getting braces was the fact that she works in an ortho office.

That got me to thinking how much I had been helped by staff at my ortho previously or currently having braces themselves.

The treatment co-ordinator who showed me my braces options had had adult braces herself and was able to share her experiences. The dental nurse who assisted when my brace was fitted and who advised me on cleaning, foods to avoid etc currently has metal braces and she spoke about her own cleaning regime.

I probably did not appreciate this adequately at the time, so three cheers for ortho staff with braces!

one of the techs at the office I go to has a perm retainer on bottom so it was sort of cool to see what I will have later on down the road and that they can honestly say they understand what you are going thru - great support system

I agree. The ortho assistant that usually works on me also has braces, and it makes me more comfortable because I know that she knows what I'm going through.

I agree! The treatment coordinator where I went for my last consultation had the Damon metal brackets on and one of the assistants had the Damon clear on. It was nice to see what they really look like on someone.

The dental therapist who prepped my teeth and did my impressions and photos had just gotten her braces off the week before. And oops, she had already forgotten to wear her retainer to work.

Her teeth did look great though so that was quite comforting to see.

One of the staff in my ortho's office has braces. She is cute as a button anyway, but her braces seem to increase her cuteness. It made me feel better about mine re: aesthetic concerns.

A great many of the staff at my dentists' office have had the Inman Aligners themselves. It's pretty reassuring, and they're very sympathetic to the lisp etc

I had Inman Aligners on both my top and bottom teeth.

I think it is super important for my team to have straight teeth, but as mentioned in this thread, to understand what our patients are experiencing every single day. I feel that after my staff members have had treatment, they too have an increased confidence in their own smile, but become very empathetic about orthodontic treatment. They really know what it is like when a patient has a bit of a long wire that they previously thought wasn't a big deal, or the adjustment in lifestyle with Invisalign.

It definitely makes our adult patients feel better when they see that some of our staff members are not too old for treatment either :).

The receptionist at my place used to be an ortho Assistant for like 25 years and she started in high school and she was braced while she worked for the ortho. Then 4 years ago when my ortho moved locations she braced one of the three ladies that still work there. The other day I noticed another of the three assistants is currently wearing ceramic braces. I don't think she got them from my ortho because I don't believe she does Ceramics anymore. My ortho had braces when she was a teen hated them and ripped em off with her dad's rusty pliers and got in a ton of trouble the next day and had to get them put right back on.
