Yellowy teeth?

#1 Post by hopeless20312 »

I brush my teeth so accurately and I don't know why it's getting yellow-er this days.

Any suggestions?

Mine are bad too, its hard to get surface stains off from tea and coffee. Just make sure you are not using CREST PROHEALTH mouth wash or toothpaste. It makes your teeth a yellow orange colour, google it or look on amazon at reviews. You can try baking soda or peroxide to remove stains.

I use crest pro health and its working fine for me. But I also brush with a whitened tooth paste once a week.

Are you using any kind of mouthwash ??

Couple of years ago when I didn't even have braces on the mouthwash make my teeth stained within weeks only . it was awful :yuck:

What I do now is I use it once a week and I use less constraint one ,you can ask the pharmacist for that Although my ortho told me not to use it at all . I also rinse my teeth with salt and water every time I brush my teeth .

If you are addicted to caffeine . Brush your teeth right after you have your coffee .

In your next appointment consult your ortho and ask him to clean your teeth.

Ok so actually had this problem and was as simple as changing toothpaste i needed to change to Colgate total advanced clean and it has the highest level of " triclosan 0.3% w/w" i am of the opinion that this is the highest level available. I was using another well known brand and i watched my teeth get more and more yellow. I switched and with regular use and within a very short space of time maybe a week or two my yellow was gone. I did speak to my dentist about it and he said definatly use the Colgate i went back to using it and have not had any further issues. Im sorry i changed in the beginning. Take your toothpase to your dentist and check like i did. Good luck.

I'm really glad this subject came up. I was comparing ortho pics and could see that my teeth are definitely turning yellowy, even though I have never had such a strict teeth cleaning regimen in my life. I was looking online and it was all the same thing--brush better, cut the colas etc. but nothing else.

Thanks you guys for the input. I will definitely be changing toothpastes. I did switch to a more expensive well known brand before braces--that's probably the problem. My ortho said to use Act mouthwash. I'm wondering if I should quit that...

Last night I proxabrushed so hard, that when I was done I noticed all the bristles were gone...UH OHHHH.....

Google the " triclosan " there is very interesting info on the net about it, i am of the understanding that NOT all toothpase contains this ingredient to give you some idea a regular tube of Colgate here will set me back about $ 4.00 the Colgate one with the "triclosan" will set me back about $7.50 for a biggish tube. Just if your wondering. And i use the listerine zero mouthwash.

I was told my many on this forum and dentist not to use any kind of toothpaste that has "whitening" agent because there is some type of "gritty" "grainy" stuff in it that will scratch teeth and outter tooth would be whiter than where bracket is located.
I also noticed that when I got braced up the ortho gave me a dental kit and it contained only Colgate products. The mouthwash I use is Scope and before bed I use the green Act

Triclosan is not a whitening agent, it removes the stain build up off the enamel on the tooth. Which takes them back to white, it doesnt whiten the teeth like whitening agents do, our teeth are suppose to be white.
