Thanks Ozzy aligner, thats really nice :D

How long have you had yours now? And how long have you got left? Has the time gone over fast? I feel like its dragging so much but i expect when its over and I look back i'll think its gone fast.

Im lucky that im at uni and just broke up till the middle of september so at least I dont have to go out everyday and face people :D I hope its done by the time I go back though.

Hi Sarah,

I have had mine for 9 weeks.
My dentist thought that it would have all been finished last Thursday but unfortunately there hadn't been any movement for 2 weeks & he had to make some adjustments.
I could feel them working again for a day or so & am hoping that my next visit on 14th will see the aligning finished.
I then have to have a front tooth crowned then the impression for the retainer.
They are so close to looking finished just one stubborn tooth that I hope will hurry up & finish :)
I have still had to go to work each day & am second in line to answer the phone if the receptionist is busy, luckily I was able to avoid it for the best part of 6 weeks but then one day had no choice due to circumstances that could not be helped.
I had to relieve the receptionist at work from lunchtime on & refused to leave them out for that long so just answered the phone with them in & now I answer the phone without worrying so much.
When I'm at home the only people I speak to on the phone is my fiance & my best friend other than that I refuse to answer the phone unless a time has been pre arranged with my family & if I see someone I know whilst out shopping I do a runner to avoid speaking to them

My dentist said to not wear the aligners for anymore than 20 hours a day or my teeth would be at risk of damage. I guess it must vary from person to person.

If I have my aligners out for 6 hours or more my bottom teeth start to shift back, but the top set remain as they are. They usually come back into alignment after wearing the aligners all night though. The more you wear them the faster they'll work, but mine are almost done even after a few evenings with them out for dates and such. So I wouldn't be so worried about all of that, as long as you're still wearing them for most of the day on most days.

It'll become less and less of a big deal the longer you wear them, to both you and the people around you. Most people I know say that they don't even notice my (mild) lisp now, and I myself can only hear a slight slurring on some words and a whistle on 's' (this may be due to the fact that my bottom teeth had been crossed over for so long though, so I'm not used to speaking with a slight gap inbetween them).

I'm only 6 days off the 2 month mark now, and the time has honestly just flown by. I can't believe how quickly my teeth have responded! I think the bottom set may take longer than the top.

Hi All,

I have had my aligner (Top) in for 10 weeks now and it's only in the last couple of weeks I have noticed a change.

The lisping definitely gets easier. I don't even notice that I have it in anymore.

I was predicted that it would take around 14 weeks. I went for my check up yesterday and was told that I am pretty much there, however he made some changes to the aligner (he seemed to cut little bits off it) and was told that the changes should accelarate movement for the next couple of weeks.

I am due to go back in around two weeks to get a mould done for the clear brace. How long does it usually take for the clear brace to arrive? and how long do people usually have wear it for? I understand that it is used to finish off the treatment. is it just like Invisalign?

Thanks!

Well I've had my brace for a week and a half now and today I've noticed that one of my front teeth and the one at the side of it seem to be coming together nicely. The gap made with the filing has completely closed up so expecting more filing when I go to dentist in a few days. Really happy :-) xxx

I've had the IA for just over 4 weeks now, I have to say the time has gone quite quickly. After my first dentist visit at 2.5 weeks and after she did more filing, I have noticed a lot of movement. I think I read that you notice more of a change after the two week mark once your teeth begin to lose their initial resistance. I am hoping for a speedy treatment time- although I have been estimated 12 weeks.
I am still diligently wearing my retainer for an average of 20-21 hours a day- I am very aware that the more it is in, the quicker it will be over. If I know I'm going out in the evening and am going to have the IA out for 4 hrs or more, I will simply not take it out for the entire day- yup, that means skipping lunch and hot drinks! Not fun.
I am getting bored of wearing the retainer now and cannot wait to be done. I am confident that the treatment will be finished by my forthcoming wedding in September but the thought of wearing it for the entire summer is exasperating. I have a bad habit of taking photos of my teeth on a daily basis. I suppose being reminded of the before and after photos is evidence enough to keep me optimistic! God I sound fed up! Sorry, I think I'm in need of positivity!
I am still cleaning by brushing twice daily with electric toothbrush and paste, soaking in denture cleaner during lunch and soaking in sterilising fluid during dinner. And I am still turning the expander every 4-5 days.
Hope everyone is getting on with theirs!
Good luck xxx

Hi
I decided to take the plunge a few weeks ago and got my aligner on Friday.
I had no idea how bad my speech would be. In fact I only found this forum yesterday after had started with it.
Tried to talk at work but think speech getting worse!!
Also find my mouth v dry now after intial few days - which is making speech harder.
Did anyone else suffer from a really sore throat. Started on Saturday and seems to much of a co-incidence to not be related. Still sore now 4 days later.
Is this normal, and any tips to help my speech? In fact struggle to talk properly now even without it in - still have lisp now!
At moment had I not committed the funds I would defo stop using. I have just one top tooth sticking out which isnt really that bad - this speech and impact on my work if wear it there is much larger deal.
Read one comment about sounding like someone who is hard of hearing speaks, and yes that is defo it for me.

Had my IA for week and half. No movement yet!!! the speech is a little better but because my tongue does not
touch the roof of my mouth i wil have this problem for the full 12 weeks.
At least i can remove the IA and put it back without a mirror, some progress..
i am sure it will all happen soon.

Badbear I also find myself taking photos of my teeth every morning and comparing them to original pics I took. However they look exactly the same. And I know what you mean about dreading the whole summer wearing it. I feel the same- dreading it!

Newbie8june, hi! I also sometimes get a very dry mouth but other times I can't stop salivating. But when it's dry it does make my throat really dry but not sore.

I'm at dentist tomorrow for my first appt 2 weeks since getting brace. I hope the dentist is happy & positive xxx
