Wow, page 105 seems to be the page for doubts & regrets.

Princess... if I didnt know better I would think I was reading my own post. I also am at 12 weeks with a front tooth that is still out too far & the tooth next to it back too far. I have been keeping myself awake at night with worry about what the final result will be.
In the beginning I visioned my front teeth would all look nicely aligned just like all the before & after pics I looked at online & in a book at the dentist.
One side looks perfect but I am not happy at all with the other side!
I have to have the front tooth crowned due to breaking it off in a fall.
The dentist assures me that he will make it look aligned when he does the crown but I am not convinced.
I would be happier if the aligning would be complete with the IA. Once the crown is done that is final then, there is no going back.
My dentist wants to do the imprression for the crown at my next appointment but I really dont feel ready for that. How do I question the expert without insulting???
I really believed that by the 12 week mark I wouldn't be able to stop smiling but it is quite the opposite.
I am sorry for the negativity but just wanted to share with people that know what I am talking about.
I am also sorry for promoting the IA as much as I did in the beginning because at this stage I am not as convinced as I was.
NickelNikki, I would love to hear how you are going?

Hello there Ozzy :)

I'm sorry to hear that people aren't getting what they want from the aligners. A lot of sites talk about how extra treatment is necessary for rotations; mine were fairly minor, so I can't comment much on that other than hoping the clear aligners work out well for you all.

My progress is on hold at the moment. I've been ill and in hospital and missed an adjustment appointment, so at the moment it's all about maintaining the current position of my teeth. They've moved well up until this point; I'm at the brink of my final result, and I'm pleased with the improvement so far. There's a small amount of movement needed on my top right tooth still (I needs to come inwards a bit) and my bottom teeth are still crossed over ever so slightly. I think if it wasn't for the hospital interlude and missed appointment I'd be very nearly if not completely done by now.

I had Inman Aligners on both my top and bottom teeth.

Nikki, sorry to hear you have been ill, I hope you are on the mend!

Tootz, I had the same issue with the inside of my cheek. The dentist gave me some wax to place over the part of the IA causing the problem, it worked wonders. I only had to use the wax a few times then the problem went away.

All the best with your IA experience!

So we are in week 6 and I have just come back from seeing the dentist.
As there has been no change since last weeks visit after my teeth were filed she took impressions for a new type of retainer.

From what I understand, it is a "fan" aligner from Inman. Just as I have to turn my built-in expander every 3-4 days to expand my jaw, the new aligner will no longer expand (as I've already expanded by 3mm since beginning of treatment.
Instead, the new aligner will be structured similarly to my existing one but it will concentrate on pushing out the two most recessed teeth(which are the ones who have stopped moving) and I will have to turn a key which will ensure maximum pressure on those two teeth specifically to ensure fast movement. It will arrive next week so we will see.

I asked my dentist if I didn't have the new one if my existing IA would eventually still do the job, she said it definitely would but it would have taken longer than initially estimated.
Quite frankly, with my wedding at the very beginning of September I don't have any time to be hanging about waiting!

Will update once the new IA is fitted!

Xxx

So I had my dentist apt yesterday & after 2 wks there movement! Had more filing done & the dentist doesn't want 2 c me back 4 another 3wks! By this stage I shud c massive improvement. I've now 2 tighten my IA every wk instead of every 4 days. He also gave me some wax (jus as u said Ozzy) 2 cover the bit of the brace which was hurtin my cheek. So far, I'm happy! :)

Badbear I think u'll b fine 4 ur wedding. Is this all inc in ur price? At the mo I'm concentratin on my front tooth comin back & then hoping 4 the tooth in behind 2 push out. I hope u get sorted out.... :)

Hi

I've had my Inman aligned now for 2 weeks and they are fine. The only problem is talking. I'm a teacher so I'm hoping everything will be done on my top teeth by September when I have my new classes. I don't care about my current classes as they know and respect me. Also I figured that some people have speech impediment their whole life so for a couple of months it's not a big deal. However before signing up for the bottom ones does anyone know if and how these affect your speech? I can't find any information on the internet about this? Any questions about the top one I'll be happy to answer!

Badbear im pleased you are getting sorted and i'm sure you will be done by September!

I've just passed the 4 week mark. Everything going well. I did experience sore cheeks a week or so ago. Tried the wax put it just fell off but it stopped hurting after 2 or 3 days anyway. Dentist happy with movement. When i go back in just under a fortnight I think she is going to put the composite blob on my front tooth which should start moving that tooth back (my worst tooth). Dentist seems to think the other 3 teeth are just about in place. Took some pics this morning and compared them to original photos and I can see a difference. Its hard to notice when i look at them everyday!

Getting so excited after my dentist told me she would build up some of my other teeth. Something i've never notice until recently but my teeth 3rd from front are quite rounded and it makes them look gappy. So she is going to build them up so they are a nice shape :-) I am getting them whitened too at the end of treatment. Can't wait for finished result!

Hope everyone else's treatment going well.

Hi All,

I am now 13 and a half week in to my treatment. Prediction was 14 weeks.

As I have said before my teeth still arent perfect, although I think my dentist is going to file/build up the tips of them to ensure that they are the same length.

I am due to go back a week today on the 9th to get my clear alginer (Look very much like Invisalign). I will have three altogether and have been told that I should wear each one for a week. So 4 weeks today I should be finished with all aligners.

Dentist advised that the clear aligners are practically invisable and will be a dream compared to the inman. He also said that they will really help to move a couple of my teeth that still are not completely in line. I think the clear algigner can twist/turn teeth where as the inman only moves forward/back.

so only 7 more days with the inman and then I am finished with it.

I am hopefully going to get my teeth whitenned at the end too!

My dentist seems to think that my teeth are pretty straight now and has said that some dentists would stop the treatment at this point. They are definitely straighter but to me are far from how I want them to be. In photos they still look quite crooked. I am hoping that the clear aligner will really bring them together.

Has anyone got any expereince of the clear aligners to finish off inman?

Ozzy- How are yours coming along?

In relation to using wax- the side of my cheeks were really painful for the first few days but it soon stopped and have been painfree ever since.

Hey Princess,
after 13 weeks my aligning has finished, not to my liking though.
My worst offending tooth is still slightly protruding but seems to me that the dentist has given up on trying to get the IA to straighten it so instead he is going to try to straighten it with the crown.
I had my temp crown put on last Thursday & have to say I was absolutely horrified at what I saw when I looked in the mirror.
The dentist didnt offer me a mirror, I used the bathroom mirror. He had left for the day by the time I went back out. It took all my will power not to burst into tears for the remainder of the day but I let it all out when I got home that night.
There was not enough room for the crown to be the same size as the front tooth next door (suggests to me I probably should have had an expander also?) to make the teeth look similar in size he ground some off the teeth on either side (said they wont be the same size but apparently no one will notice!)
The temp crown is really white, protruding & the gaps created were very roughly filled with glue (looked like I had bread wedged between teeth & needed a good brush) my gums were bruised & the crown didnt reach the gumline on one side (thankfully that has healed now) The crown is on my right front tooth. Getting a picture of what I saw?
I was going to have to look like this for 2 & 1/2 weeks until my crown comes back from the lab but I managed to get back into the dentist today so he could tidy things up a bit, the glue is not as noticable now.
He assured me that the new crown will look much better than the temp crown & the front teeth will look more aligned. God I hope he is right!
He did say that I will not be 100% happy which is disappointing after spending so much money.
I still have to wear the IA to keep the teeth from moving. I think that I will have to wait 2 weeks after the crown for my retainer so maybe another 3 to 4 weeks with IA?!!
I really wanted to get my lower teeth done after this but am having serious doubts now.
Really sorry for the life story & negativity but felt good to get it out.

Hi, had my Inman Aligner fitted this morning. My speech is terrible, can't say S, J or D and the pain is getting really bad now :( please tell me this will all improve. I have a front line customer facing job which I'm back at tomorrow and dreading a little. How long until you could talk better? And how long until the pain wears off a bit? I've taken it out twice in the last hour because the pressure becomes so unbearable but there's no pain when it's not in. Did anyone else experience this? Any advice on good painkillers would also be great. Thanks in advance :-)

Thanks :) the pain is only because there's so much pressure on my teeth I think and doesn't hurt takin it in and out at the moment. Hopefully I will adjust to it soon, just feels so strange at the moment and yes the end result does seem like forever away at the moment but will hopefully be worth it x
