Re: Inman aligners
Hi Mater33
Yes they have moved loads, but after loads of patience and waiting. I didn't not see any difference in my teeth for at least 2 weeks, so he hang in there. And plus we keep looking at our teeth wether we know it or not to see if a miraculous movement has happened over night! So you may not see the difference as much as someone else would eg. Dentist.
Are you feeling an aching sensation when pulling them out and putting them back in? Because for the first week mine hurt like mad! This is a sign it's doing it's job properly I guess. and as for seeing the dentist, I had scheduled appointments every two weeks to have the teeth filed a little to create more space. Do you have scheduled appointments?

Hi MeMeMe321
Yes the 1st week or so was agony when taking it out but then that sort of wore off. I have had my brace just over 3 weeks in total but couldnt wear it for more than a few hours a day for the 1st week and a half...now i cant even feel it in my mouth at all and have gone from one extreme to the next. I phoned my dentist yesterday to ask if this was normal, they arent the nicest dental practise tho and i had a few probs with them to start with so i dont like to ask them..
I have a slight gap between my 2 top teeth and one sticks out a lil bit further than the other (like Mater the car) and this is what i keep looking at to see if changing but its not...not even my friends or family can see any change. My teeth stick out slighly and i am told i didnt really need a brace as they arent that bad (phaps worse in my head) but i insisted i wanted one so i would off thought i would see some changes by now...im very dissappointed.
No i was told by my dentist heres your brace and good luck...so i asked do i not come back every 2 weeks or so to have it tightened and they said no as its on a spring and to come back in 12 weeks when im happy they have moved back enough etc. Every post i read on here talks about regular appointments so again im dissappointed that i chose the wrong place to get my brace. Its cost me a lot of money and it really worries me that its not working ;0(

Re: Inman aligners
Mater33 you need to ring up your dentist asap and explain (although he should know this) that you need regular appointments as they have to file in between your teeth to create space. I see my dentist every 2 weeks sometimes every week and have my teeth filed. This is the only way your teeth can fit together properly. I would honestly give them a ring asap, im shocked they have just given you your brace and told you to come back in 12 weeks! I hope you get it sorted out and dont let them fob you off xxx
Re: Inman aligners
Hi all. Had my new Inman Aligner's installed yesterday. Completely underestimated the degree of speech impediment, I consider myself unintelligible!
They are slightly more bulky than I had expected, but fit snugly and are as comfortable as I can expect under the circumstances. I can eat properly using my back teeth, but the front set feel too delicate to bite anything, does this change? Removing them to eat all seems a bit of a hassle, particularly in social environments.
Many thanks for everyone's input on this forum, it helped a lot in my anticipation of the new braces.
Cheers.

Hi xpresso
I have only had mine a couple of weeks so i may be the closest in 'wearing time' to you so far. The only comments i can give is that speach does improve after a week (well did for me). Do you have it top and bottom? I only have it at the top though.
To bite into food was very difficult at first, i couldnt even blow my food to cool it down as making that movement with my mouth was agony, this has since worn off.
How long have you been told to wear it for (how many hours a day). I was told 23 hours a day but have just read that the maximum should be 20 hours? can anyone comment on this?
Goodluck Xpresso, im sure more experience ppl than me will give you some better advice as i am still soo new to this ;-( xx.
Sassy
I will, but i feel like i am being a nuisance...but i will contact them. Thanks xxx

Re: Inman aligners
Glad to hear the speech improves, I've already had a couple of 'stand and stare' breakdowns of communication. I have top and bottom sets, top set 8 weeks and bottom set 12 apparently. My dentist told me to keep them in between 18-20 hours a day. I've had relatively little pain, removing and replacing them is pretty uncomfortable but other than that I can't really complain.

Re: Inman aligners
Hi Everyone! I got my IA on tuesday of this week so today is day 3. I'm predicted 8 weeks, having a gap between my front teeth closed (but not all the way, halfed I guess) and the protrusion sorted. I'll be able to wear them 20 hours a day until I start Uni in September- I study acting so theres no way i'd be able to wear it during the day, so then i'll be dropping down to the 16 hour a day mark, I hope treatment will still work!! These first few days my front teeth have been extremely tender i can't even attempt to eat on them. Taking it in and out, particulary after a nights sleep and then putting it back in after breakfast has been really painful. I hope this won't happen for the full time period. Will I be able to eat normally as I get further into the treatment? I have a composite blob on each front tooth to help the aligner stay in place which i wasn't aware I had to have done. I feel like now even when I have my aligner out everyone is looking at me like 'ew what are those wierd lumps on her teeth' Do you think at my next dentist appointment he would consider making them more discreet? Been reading this blog alot recently before getting the IA and I must say it's incredible helpful and encouraging so thankyou! :D x
Re: Inman aligners
Hi tigerlily,
Don't worry the soreness won't go on for your whole treatment. I'm onto week 10 now and I don't even know I've got it in half the time. No tenderness or soreness at all and I can eat what I want. The only thing I can't do now is bite off pieces of Sellotape. But I think that's because I have composites behind my 2nd two teeth on the bottom and they stop me from closing my front teeth together (I think). I also have a composite on my front tooth but it's at the top under my lip and hardly noticeable unless I point it out. You could ask your dentist to make yours less discreet im sure he/she would try xx

Hi Sassy! Oh Phew, i'm glad eating will get better thankyou :) Do you remember how long it was before you noticed movement? It's Day 5 now and one front tooth has definately been on the move. Each tooth needs 1mm of movement, any guess/idea how long it could take? :D xx
Re: Inman aligners
Tigerlily, I can't remember but I've just looked back at my posts and the dentist had apparently said 2 of my teeth had lined up by my first visit which was 2 weeks after I got my IA. Don't worry too much, at the beginning I was constantly checking for movement but now I just can't believe how much they have moved. I was quoted 12 weeks but my dentist said it will be 13 now so just another 3 to go hopefully. But I honestly look at my teeth now and am liking them so much and actually feel embarrassed by how much they used to stick out. Have you been given a timescale for yours? Xxx

Re: Inman aligners
Oh brilliant! Wow you're nearly at the end of the journey now then, you must be so excited! I've been quoted 6-8 weeks. I'm wearing it the full 20 until i start Uni in second week of September so hopefully that will give me a really good start. At Uni i'll only be able to manage 16 hours, do you think that will be okay? Thanks so much for answering my questions xx
Re: Inman aligners
Wow 6-8 weeks will fly over! At the start you think it's going to drag but it does go over really fast. Yeah 16 hours will be fine. I'm sure the guide is 16-20 hours. I'm back at uni in September too but mine should (fingers crossed) be done by then.
And don't worry, if you have any questions which I can answer I'm happy too xxx

Re: Inman aligners
Hi everyone!
It has been a while since my last post, but I am coming up to the end of week 12 now and the end is in sight!
In my last post I had been given a fan screw aligner to speed up movement of the most recessed tooth. I wore that for 2.5 weeks- it did the job it was supposed to do and I then went back to the IA.
Right now I am thrilled with the results so far, the 2nd tooth was the most recessed and was set back 6mm from the front one, the other 2nd tooth was also set back but not as severely. Well, 12 weeks in and the tooth that was 6mm behind has come all the way out and everything is pretty much in line!
I have been going to the dentist once a week for her to check, tweak and discuss progress. I have to say they have been great.
I will go back next week and she is going to put a composite on one of the front teeth to move it back ever so slightly, this will take one week them the following week I will go back one morning and have impressions taken for my permanent fixed lingual brace (the thin wire fixed behind the teeth) and that same afternoon it will be ready and I will have it put in. Then finished!!!
I have already paid for the whitening and that will be ready for use as soon as my permanent brace is put on.
I am so happy with the results. I cannot believe how quickly, painlessly and effectively the whole process has been. Even my dentist is amazed as she admitted it was quite a complex case. Major recession of the two second teeth.
And it will all be done in time for my wedding (in 3wks time !)
In hindsight the time has gone quickly even though I have spent every single day for the past 12wks scrutinising minute details of my mouth and taking daily photos! It has been well worth it and I am over the moon- I can finally smile fully without being self conscious.
Will update once it is all over.
Good luck all!

Hi All,
Sassy & Badbear, great that u r both nearly finished!
To all the newbies....be patient, it really does get better & the results will be amazing
Badbear....can u keep us posted on how u get on with ur fixed retainer/wire. I have had mine on for 3 weeks now but after 2 weeks had to go back & have it re-bonded as a section lifted off. A bit concerning when it is supposed to be there for life.
Could be my imagination now but I feel like another section is lifting? I will hav to keep a close eye on it.
I have appt to have my bottom IA fitted on the 20th. Not looking forward to it after being IA free for 4 weeks but I dont think the bottom will take as long as the top!
I have completed the whitening for the top. I have pics to post but want to figure out how to put the before & afters on the same page. Last 2 pics I posted had a separate link each. I dont want to do it like that.
Will get pics up soon though
