I've got a debonding date!!!

#1 Post by sibilla »

Oh happy, happy days!!

At my adjustment yesterday, my ortho said that as long as at the next appt. I'm happy with the way my teeth are, he'll take the impressions for retainers and a week later take the braces off!!! So that'll be 28 September!!!!!!! :jump:

It's just not possible to put into words how excited I am - ridiculously so!

There's some final tweaking of a stubborn front tooth which wouldn't de-rotate. He did something pretty painful involving wires and power chains which was just awful but I can see the difference already. So, providing it doesn't move the other teeth too much, we'll be good to go.

I was looking back at some of my earlier posts last week and it all seems so long ago but in other ways, these last 13 months seem to have flown. All I know is, whatever it takes to keep my teeth in their new position, I'll do. As worthwhile as it has been, no way would I want to do this again....it's been a challenge to say the least. But just when you think you really can't put up with it any more, another change happens and it makes it all worthwhile again.

Sorry, I'm rambling! I'm just feel giddy with excitement!

As soon as I've come down from the ceiling after the debond, I'll post before and after pics. My 'during' pics aren't as good quality as some of people's photos on this site (never did master taking decent photos) so I haven't bothered with them.

I know what you mean! I have spent so many months reading people's happy posts about being given a debonding date and feeling pleased for them (and wishing it were me!!)

All the time and money has been so worth it. Especially when I saw someone I hadn't seen for months recently and she couldn't get over how straight my teeth look now - I think I was walking on air for hours after that!

:D

Thanks elainek! I love all the before and after pics too - they certainly keep you going when it feels as if you can't do this any more don't they?

Oh congrats! How do you even get them to set up a date? My ortho keeps saying "we are getting close" but no date set up yet and no talk about finishing. Guess I still have a few months to go :(
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

Congratulations!!

I was thinking today how it would be if I just told the ortho not to tell me my debonding date, and then when I come in he just tells me "Today they're coming off!".
Because when I do finally get a date, I will go NUTS with anticipation and excitement and anxiety!

Oh, I cannot wait to say the words "I have a debond date"....!!

Congratulations again!!

Take heart, ArchWired28! My ortho kept doing that too! Two adjustments ago, he said I'd just need a couple more appointments then we could talk about debonding so I was thinking it would be October/November before they came off. Then this week he threw me by saying if I'm happy with at the next appt, we can take the impressions and then a week later they could come off!

Haha, klobird! I thought about doing that as well, knowing what a big kid I am about getting excited! But then I realised that the debonding appt has to be a lot longer than a normal adjustment so the receptionist would end up giving the game away anyway!

37 days to go!!! (or as my niece would say "36 sleeps!!)
