Archwire Tubing/Sleevess urgent help?

#1 Post by onlyDAVID »

I got my braces like 5 days ago. And I noticed the dentist placed this clear tubes in the archwire of in between the holes where I got my tooths pulled. Well I was like okay. but then 5 days later

I have food stuck inside those tiny tubes and it's physically impossible to remove the food. anyone knows or has experience on how to fix this problem?

these are the tiny tubes;

Several years ago I had two teeth pulled upper left side. The left back upper molar. the tooth in front of pulled molar remained but then had to get a tooth pulled in front of the one that remained. So basically there's a space, a tooth (with a molar band around it) and then another empty space then my front top row begins.
When I got braced my ortho put a tube on the archwire to prevent this one banded tooth from moving forward into the space in front and throwing off future teeth alignment. Hope this kinda explains. Fyi when archwire is changed the tube will be changed also.

I have 2 archwire tubes and yeah, food gets stuck in them. It's not ideal, but since it's away from your teeth it won't cause decay or anything. No one but you will look closely enough to see if anything is in your tubes. New wire = new tubes, so hang in there.

I have one too to stop the archwire rubbing from my extraction hole. Food does get in there, but I find once I've brushed my teeth nothing seems to be left in there (it's clear so you can see everything).
