can braces cause deviated septum

can braces cause deviated septum

i think after my braces experience i breathe more out of my mouth and never really from my nose. i plan on seeing a specialist soon.. i started having symptoms after removing 4 teeth before putting my braces in.. what do you guys think?

I'm no ENT, but I think it would be pretty difficult for braces to cause this type of structural change. That said, I can definitely see how braces could cause inflammation that would affect the sinuses and cause congestion. Have you ever tried using a neti pot? It might offer some relief. Definitely see an ENT.

FWIW, I had sinus surgery a few years ago to straighten my septum and clear out scar tissue in my sinuses. It definitely helped, but recovery was not fun. I hope you won't need this!

the reason why i asked this Q is because i found this girl on youtube saying her deviated septum was "fixed" because of her braces. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL6tmn1hf4o . I wonder if the opposite happened with me :\
