Hi,

I am on my 6th month of my 18 month sentence and at my last adjustment the ortho said to the hygienist "impressions next time". I didn't inquire abut it but what does that mean? Is it good or bad? Is it normal to have your impressions taken during the treatment? Anyone know?

Hmm, you should definitely ask about that one. Were you promised some kind of hardware, like palate expander or anything? Are your teeth close to 'done' in your mind?

Do you have your upper and lower teeth braced? I started with the uppers only and had the lowers done 3 months later. They took impressions for that. Or else, like others have said, some sort of appliance such as a bite plate.
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

I have no formal dental or orthodontic education. Hence, all opinions expressed by me on this forum are those of an "informed consumer" and by no means intended as an expert advice.
