New User..Temporary Anchorage Device (TADs)

#1 Post by rawr101 »

I will be getting braces in about a month. I have an openbite and an overjet from years of sucking my thumb. I decided on using TADs instead of going the surgery route. My Ortho gave me the option of surgery, Tads, or just elastics. So does anyone here have and open bite and TADs and have good progress or before and after pics? Als how far into the treatment were your tad's placed in? Any tips would be great. Thanks

Hi there! I had a TAD within the first month of getting braces. (Shifting midline, which means moving all my upper teeth to the left and all my lower teeth to the right.)

It was easy, relatively pain-free and since it keeps (on mine) the lower teeth from shifting (anchoring it) when I wear my class 2 elastics, it REALLY moves the (upper) teeth pretty quickly.

On the 10th of October, I am having a second one put in to begin moving the lower teeth. Once my teeth adjust to the elastics, no issues at all.
Overall, I am very pleased with the results which my orthodontist says the wonderful progress is because of the TAD.
