lingual versus invisalign? pros and cons
What are the pros and cons of lingual braces versus invisalign? I currently have ceramics but im not happy as they are still visible but which should i switch to?
Re: lingual versus invisalign? pros and cons
I always think it's funny when people say ceramic braces aren't that noticeable. The only difference is maybe people have to be slightly closer to you to see them.
I am wearing metal removable appliances right now...I just traded in an ALF for another wire expander with a TPA. No lie, it is hard to talk, and I have a very pronounced lisp thanks to the two thick wires replacing the one thin one behind my teeth, and some general problems caused by the bar making it difficult to raise my tongue in the middle and back areas either. Like when I say the word "bead" it sounds more like, "bith". But it's the first week with this and I am sure it will get better like the ALF eventually did. I had a choice between this and invisalign for this stage. Sometimes I now think I should have gone with invisalign because this is SUPER hard to talk with, but most people still sound a little different with invisalign. and then there are those attachments, and sometimes you can see someone has something on their teeth. Plus, I am on the go a lot and I just can't always go through all the taking something out, brushing, putting it back. I am actually supposed to eat with this in, and food doesn't get stuck much, and I can just brush my teeth when I get a chance instead of obsessing. I can linger over my coffee, I can enjoy a glass of wine, etc.

Hi EllieB
That sounds like an unusual appliance. Do you think it is preferable to conventional braces? Can you post some pics?
Good luck with it

Re: lingual versus invisalign? pros and cons
It's much easier to talk with now. My speech is not perfect at all but I definitely speaking much more clearly.
