hello,
went to my dentist today to get my retainer but it was the wrong type instead of the plastic retainer the lab sent a rubber
moulded night guard. gutted i have to wait another 7-10 days.
to all off those in the early days, it does get better.

Hi everyone, hope your treatment is all going smoothly. A quick update from me. Im just over 19 weeks now. Yes it sounds shocking especially when i was quoted 12 weeks but to be honest it hasnt bothered me and the time has gone over quickly. I had my moulds taken for retainer which i will get in another week. I have done my whitening treatment which cost me £300 and was the trays and the whitening gel. To be honest Im not that impressed. My dentist thinks my teeth look really white but i dont think theyve really changed at all and no one has noticed them being any different in colour. If i had the chance again I definitely wouldnt spend £300 on it. I dont know if its because I was expecting a really bright white hollywood type colour, but i thought paying that much money that I would get that sort of result??? Anyways I'll update once I get my retainer to let people know how that is compared to the IA. Looking forward to getting these composites off the back of my teeth too!

xxx

PS if anyone can tell me how to upload photos I will try and upload some.

I was fitted with my IA about 6 days ago and my ortho put 2 buttons on the back of my teeth he said this will help keep the bar in place.
However do you just put the IA directly on the buttons or do you put it just above the buttons?
I wont see my othro for 2 more weeks.

If the buttons are at the bottom edge of your teeth then place the bar above them, it's so bar doesn't slip down teeth. Or if button is near to gum put bar below to stop IA slipping up. If they are on back I'm assuming they are furthest away from gum x

88oscar- you are not supposed to wear IA for more than 20 hours a day. so basically there is four hours to play with..eating, drinking and if you must have it out for exercise! So youl be fine to take it out if its rather extreme as if your mouth drysup you could somehow end up with IA jumping out your mouth.

hope your treatment goes well.

Hey Oscar, I exercise with my aligners in and haven't had a problem-- I hadn't really thought about it. They don't come loose or anything. What are your concerns? Now I'm wondering if I should call my dentist and ask!

Hi all

Can any of the more experienced IA wearers help!!!

I am at the end of my treatment now....14 weeks.... and my dentist told me yesterday that my IA has done all it can for me. I am dissapointed as my teeth still have a bit more movement to do to make me happy with them but he said that the IA has moved my teeth as much as it can. He said he was going to look into whether his lab can make me some retainer type trays to wear just to finish the last bit of movement off but he didnt sound too positive.

Can anyone advise if they are/were in a similar situiation and had some retainer type trays (im guessing like the Invisalign) that just finished placing the teeth in a better position? If so how was it and did it take long?

Thanks Mater 33

Hi everyone! I'm on my second week of wearing my IA and it hasn't gone as well as I'd hoped.
I've been super busy at work this week which has involved me speaking to large groups of people so I haven't been wearing it for the full 20 hours a day :/
Also, I don't drive so traveling on public transport with this in is a nightmare! Especially when every now and again I just have to "sluuuuuurp"
I read somewhere that the salivating should stop after a few weeks, is this true?

That sounds pretty frustrating mater, I hope it works out somehow.
Hi Kerry, I'm the same. I am on week 3 of the expander and still salivating. I reckon this is due to having it out often as my mouth can't get used to it being in. The need to 'slurp' comes on so much more when standing in a que in a shop or lying in bed with my boyf. How irritating! ( for him too! )
Id imagine the treatment will take slightly longer if I keep taking it out for work.

Hi all, my first post to this forum! I just got my arch expander today and it's been quite an experience.. the amount of saliva is unbelieveable and my speech is just hilarious! Anyone else here with the type of expander that should not be removed? I'm supposed to tighten the device every 2 to 3 days and then after 2 weeks I finally get my IA. Can't wait.

Ive had my IA in for a week and a half now...my ortho told me at my consultation that it will probably take about 10 weeks. How long is it before you start to notice a difference? Im able to wear this all day so is it possible to cut my treatment time to maybe 7 weeks?

Oscar thats great your managint to wear it alot. i was told not to wear it for more than 20hours. the ortho can only estimate a time. i got told 14weeks and that was with expander for four weeks and IA For 10. im currently on week 13 and brace is being sent off on sat to be readjusted, so id be inclined to think treatment may take longer. Have you been charged for clear aligners for small movements after.IA?good luck x
