My ortho won't listen to me!

#1 Post by lanerbanerrr »

Hi, my name's Tia, I'm a new member to this forum. I got my braces on (traditional braces) on June 18, 2011. I have worn rubber bands for a while now (maybe half a year). I also have "turtles" on the very back top teeth. My bite is good, and my teeth are straight, but I have midline asymmetry in my teeth. I have mentioned this to my ortho the past few visits, and he told me that they put something on there to fix it the last time I was there, which was October 1st. He never told me what it is or what's causing this asymmetry. I have not seen any improvements since they have "fixed" it, so I really don't know what to do. I am scheduled to get them off on Nov. 13th, 2012 and get my retainer the next day, but I don't want to get them taken off if my teeth aren't the way I want them. Should I go to another orthodontist and see what is going on? Or, should I ask my orthodontist gain and see what he can do? I don't mind getting them on again or paying again, I just don't know what to do. What do you guys think? I would love to hear your opinions! Thank you!

Definitely talk to him again and if you feel it is not resolved definitely seek a second opinion. They are your teeth and you should not settle for results that make you unhappy.

I agree with CountessDeSangre, don't take them off until you are happy. If your orthodontist doesn't think it's possible to fix, then get a second opinion from someone else. You should be happy!

I actually went to 2 debanding appointments, and didn't get them off, once because he wasn't happy (neither was I), and the other because I wasn't happy.

Ok! He gave me rubber bands to wear again, one side with wearing them how I usually do, and the other to wear from my canine to my bottom molar (at least I think that's what he said). Hopefully it gets fixed!
