Re: Inman aligners
Hi turnbulls, I've just read your post again, I got the wrong end of the stick, doh Glad the discomfort is better than you expected. Yes it is alot of money but I believe it will be so worth it. I too am in my 40s but it is never too late and I'm already feeling so much better about my teeth (week 6). 4 months isn't a huge sacrifice in the grand scheme of things, roll on the weeks. Good luck
Re: Inman aligners
Hi Susiesue11, Just been for my 2 week appt. Dentist just asked how I'd managed with it and filed my teeth for 15 minutes, then out I came. He didn't ask how many hours I'd had it in for, or if he'd noticed any movement....nothing, but heyho I'm sure he would of said if something wasn't as he expected. Back again in 2 weeks time.
I'm glad you feel pleased with your progress only 6 weeks into treatment......it gives me hope!!

Re: Inman aligners
Hi Turnbulls, the two week appt is a great feeling, rather than counting the days it turns into weeks from now on Thinking back I'm not sure how many questions I was asked at two weeks but I think I just offered up the info to get a conversation going, I was so relieved to be through the first few weeks. The filing must be a good sign, your teeth must have moved and need more room. Hopefully at your next visit there will be more noticeable change for you to see. You could always ask to see your mold to make the comparison. Keep going
I love Wednesdays as its the day I turn the key on my IA and hopefully that will encourage more change... here's hoping.

Re: Inman aligners
Had my aligners 3 weeks today. My two front teeth were very much overlapped and slanted inwards, which made my canine teeth appear more prominent and as they are also rotated, I've got terrible fangs which I hate. I think I can see a slight difference already. Another bonus to having the aligner is that I've lost 4.5lbs in 3 weeks through not being able to snack inbetween meals........yeah, looking forward to straight teeth and slimmer body (hopefully!!).

Re: Inman aligners
Well done Turnbulls, three weeks in Thats great you are starting to see changes. Like you've I recon I've lost half a stone which is the advantage of no snacks at all I guess.
It was my 8 week check up today, my dentist was over the moon with my progress in the last two weeks, as am I. More filing but all good. He thinks I'm half way through realistically so I'm on the count down! only 8 weeks to go!

Re: Inman aligners
Hey guys...i went to see my ortho yesterday, he was prepared to do my impressions for my retainer but instead he did more filing and told me to come back in 2 weeks. He said to me are you hearing the click when you put your IA on because thats when you get the most pressure, when he puts it on for me i hear the click, when i put it on i dont.
Im on 6 weeks and i put my IA on different to him.
I put the front bar on first, then push the 2 backs on my teeth, then i put the spring above my buttons last.
I hope this wont delay my treatment time.

Hi Susiesue11, great news about your progress. Had you noticed much difference before now, or has the major change taken place these last two weeks? Also did your dentist mention whether you'll be having the clear aligners to finish treatment after your 16 weeks is up?
88oscar, my dentist told me to clip the aligner on at the back first, then position the front bar and finally raise the back spring above the button.

Re: Inman aligners
Hi Turnbulls, I would say that the first noticeable change I could see was around my 5/6 weeks mark. The front bar was sitting centrally rather than the top of my protruding central tooth, therefore my tooth had moved in. It has then made an enormous change in the last two weeks and is lined up in the middle with the other central tooth! Now what I am waiting for is the lateral next to the protruding one to move side ways to that the central one can be completely straight. I'm sure this is going to be the slow bit but having made the progress I have I'm very positive about it all.
re clear aligners, yes he gave me an estimate for two sets of clear aligners for any refinement at the end if I need them. Reading on this forum previously it sounds like they will be necessary to refine what the IA can't.
Hi 88oscar, I put it on the same way you do, which is the way my dentist first showed me.
Jasmine that is terrible!!!he ought to get back to you! i had removable expander i wasn't allowed to eat or drink while wearing mines, not sure which one you have?do you expabd it by yourself every third day? xx i had mines eight weeks, and now on.week 8 of inman aligner, had ut taken off me after a month to be readjusted so was gutted it set me back!getting sick n tired now haha. only good thing is seeing results each week!xx
Wohoo finally saw my ortho today!! The whole clinic was closed for 2 weeks due to some training. So this sets me back at least 2 weeks. The initial estimate was 3 months for the whole process, in reality I'm over 5 weeks in now and will get my inman aligner in 2 weeks. The device will also have an inbuilt expander as my arch still needs more space. Hopefully that will work better than the expander I had. The ortho said that the old expander is not doing anything anymore and took new impressions for the IA. For the time being I have to keep the old expander in so that there are no setbacks. But he gave me permisson to take it out for eating, which is the best news :D So long soups and puddings!
So great to hear of your success Vickypayne and Susiesue, gives me hope that some day this will be over!

Re: Inman aligners
Oh Vicky that is the best news, you've only got it for one more week, yah. Do let us know how the clear aligners are. How long will you have them for, day and night again presumably? Will you then have a retainer or the wire?
Yes everything is going really well, I will be in for the full 14 ish weeks which is fine as that was what I was told at the start. I'm half way through so getting there.
I paid £1500 which is for the IA with the expander built in, fortnightly visits (14ish weeks or however long it takes). It may not be the cheapest but I'm delighted with my orthodontist, they are very local to me and they book me in for each appointment in advance so I don't miss one because they are busy.
How much was yours?

Re: Inman aligners
Susie, can't believe how time is flying by!! With clear retainers its like invisalign so need to wear it all time except eating. As regards after treatments over I will get plastic retainer as heard few horror stories from my sister who works at dental practise , she said so much calculus builds up even if the person tries so hard to clean ect.. So think il use plastic;)
My cost was £1800 all in that was for- expander, Clear aligner, retainer&whitening. I'm getting two teeth next to front ones built up to be same length too as there slightly shorter will give it nice finish:)he never mentioned how much, maybe free haha kidding!its not something desperate just be nice finish, if its mega bucks il tell him not to bother hehehe x

Re: Inman aligners
My only concern is, when i saw my ortho he said to me when you put your IA do you get a click noise and i dont.
He said because when you hear it lock thats when the most pressure is on. Im having trouble with it.
