I never clenched my teeth before braces, but found myself doing it constantly in braces, and also in the week or so after I got them out. Since getting my essix retainers though I can't as my teeth don't meet together, so that has got me out of the habit.

Yes I've been clenching and grinding for the last 3 months. I've never done this before braces and hopes it stops when they come off in 14 more months.

Yes, it's not much fun, is it? I haven't had a decent night's sleep in months! Hope my orthodontist is going to be able to help me figure out a way to stop doing this.

I definitely do this every night! Sore teeth in the morning, for sure. My ortho gave me an Aqualizer when I mentioned it to him.

Do you have TMJ or just a problem with teeth clenching? Did it help you? Is it uncomfortable to wear?

I don't have TMJ problems at all. It does help because you are relieving the biting down on the rest of your teeth. And yes it is definitely comfy

Thanks for letting me know. I'll ask him about it when I see him in a few weeks.

Re: Anyone else started clenching their teeth since braces?
I know it's been a while since this post. But I've been having the same issues. I grind my teeth at night and then wake up b/c of the teeth tremor. It's just like when you get cold and your teeth chatter. Did anyone ever find out why it does this?peach wrote:I've noticed that I clench my teeth at night too. It varies. There's been a few mornings where, as soon as I've woken up, my jaw just does this weird little involuntary tremor, like it's loosening up again. Kinda like when you get the chills and you shiver. That doesn't happen very often but it's still crazy weird.
