Haven't really had plaque buildup up. I stay up on the brushing. Flossing has only begun to get easier recently but I'm only doing it once a day (at night) at the moment. Eventually I would like to work myself up to flossing twice a day.

Maybe try a Waterpik, I will be getting my braces on Monday and that is what I got because I knew I wouldn't floss correctly so I figured a Waterpik would do the trick.

Ugh I had this SO bad! It was so frustrating. I brushed, flossed and Waterpiked all the damn time and I would STILL have it daily. My ortho said something about excessive calcium deposit or something and some people just produce more in braces than others and it's actually not a bad thing...I dunno.

I did find that there are two types of floss for people with braces that are most popular at the stores...I think the two are Glide Threader Foss and Oral B Super Floss. Well the Oral B Super Floss is the best for cleaning that off your teeth around the brackets. Its a diff type of floss material and it really is like a little brillo pad. It really is the greatest! Keep your water intake high and regular rinsing with ACT helped too!

I have a waterpik, its good but it still doesn't remove all of the plaque, i tend to use tooth picks to get rid of the plaque around the brackets, I bought an electric toothbrush today, an oral b trizone 600 one. I haven't used it yet because it has a 2 pin adapter so i had to go out and buy a uk visitor adapter!!

kreyFL, thanks for your input, never in my life have i ever had plaque in the gum line,(well i probably have but brushing alone got rid of it)
It is very frustrating I agree, always makes me feel im not brushing properly hah

Try vitamin k2. I take between 5-10 mg per day. It helps your body lay down calcium in the right places (bones and teeth instead of arterial plaque) and lots of people notice a significant reduction in oral plaque too.

I must have my teeth cleaned every 3 months now. I thought the braces were expensive but now I get to spend another $180 four times a year. wowza...
