I was brushing and flossing and doing my normal cleaning routine when I realized that an elastic band was missing on one of my molars. I'm actually terrified now because of not having anything keeping the wire in the bracket in the tooth to cause the pressure, but the wire is still in there thanks to the elastics still be on the teeth around it.
My next appointment isn't until February 21st. Should I call and have them put the elastic back on the tooth? I was meaning to call them to see if they could clip a poking wire in the back, but I'm just terrified now because of the missing elastic on the tooth.
Braced Date: December 26th, 2012. Type: Traditional Metal Braces. Estimated Treatment Time: 18-24 months (more likely 18).
Is the bracket hanging off the wire? Is it an o-ring (ligature) that has come off? If so yes, call your ortho. They'll replace it (and snip that annoying wire!)
Yes just call them. It will take 30 seconds to clip the wire and put a new ligature on. Without it, the bracket is doing nothing as its not connected to the wire in any way.
