So it's been just under 8 hours since I got my braces on, and they HURT!! It literally feels like someone has tied something around each of my teeth and is pulling on them from accost the room. I'm assuming this is from both the power chains and coil, or from bite blockers/molar buildup as well? About to take some pain killers so hoping it helps. Does drinking something either hot or cold help?
Ouch! Can't imagine starting with a power chain from day 1! Painkillers will help, try to eat something even if it hurts, the chewing will help everything heal up quicker. The first 2-3 days keep up on the pain killers, should get easier after that hang in there!
You got a powerchain on day 1? Wow, that must HURT! Yes, take painkillers....you will probably need them for the next 2 to 3 days. When I was a child, I found that ice-cream or very cold drinks helped ease things too, if only for a short time.
Yep. My ortho doesn't play games. Ha ha. I took a Vicodin but it only helped for a few hours. I'm Hoping it gets better soon. I have not been able to sleep and it's 3am. I'm also hungry. The bite blockers make it impossible to chew and soup did not hold me over long. I pray tomorrow I feel better because I have class and a test to study for. I also want to go for a run.
Luckily and surprisingly enough, I'm not in too much pain. There is some soreness and one tooth is killing me, but I also just have tops and no power chain. Actually, I thought it would be worse. Good luck to both of us
Holy crow! I can't believe you got a powerchain on day 1!!!! Mine hurt like nothing else for days when I got them on. Painkillers and soft foods are your friends! I found drinking something warm did help. Cold stuff did not. The cold drinks made everything feel like it was pulling everything tighter where warm stuff sort of felt like it relaxed everything (does that make sense?) Feel better soon!
i know how you feel. im wearing braces for the 2nd time. i got them on sunday and i thought i wouldn't have any pain being a 2nd time wearer but i was so wrong lol.
don't worry the pain will go away in a week if not advil is always there.
I really hoping that when I wake up tomorrow I will be pain free. Tonight dinner was a jar of baby food. I always heard about people saying it hurts, but I never thought it would be this bad.
