Amazing change thus far! While not as large as your's, I too have a sizeable gap. The first time I went to see an ortho he recommended extracting a lower tooth (my lowers are fine) to fix the gap on the top.

Suffice it to say this was a no-go for me at the time. I have my consultation with another recommended ortho on 4/9 so we will see how it goes!

Just know that your story has given me hope.

This is why i actually joined the boards. I figured i could help someone struggling with braces....

I actually had to get an upper extracted to align my jaws (this is what the ortho told me)

Im still looking forward to how he's going to do that given that i now had an uneven number of teeth on the arches....


Oh well...Time alone will tell..
I have an adjustment on the 5th April, so i will post some more progress pics then.

Thanks alot Dee. I am really impressed as well. 2 more moths till 1 year in braces.i can hardly believe where all the time went. And how much things have changed. People I meet now don't even know why i got braces cuz i look normal. How are things with you.

Hi Nikki,
That must be so nice when that happens. Must make it all really worth it.
I've been fine. Am going in for my third adjustment tomorrow. The wire on the top arch in the back has come out of the bracket and has been poking me a bit since Friday so I am anxious to get in to get it attended to. I expect that they are going to put the rest of the brackets on my molars. But, I could be wrong. I thought they were going to do that in February. Instead all they did was put two powerchains on. Despite all my worries about the powerchains they really haven't been so bad. I think I was anticipating the worst. My gap has closed a bit, not as much as i would like but I'm happy with it. Right now, I have two teeth on the top that are extremely sore. They keep banging into my teeth on the bottom so I don't know what he's going to say about that. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. I told you that the power chains weren't that bad. You really were anticipating the worst. Yes it makes it worth it. I hope things go well for you tomorrow.

How come you only on ur 3rd adjustment though, how far apart are ur visits? Was jus wondering.

Well, it might be the fourth. I think I've kind of lost track. I'm about six months in now. My appointments are about every 8 weeks or so.
Yes, you were absolutely right about the powerchains. I should have listened to you (and everyone else on this forum who said the same thing!). I don't know if they will change it today or not but they will definitely have to fix this wonky wire that has come completely out of its bracket.
