Rapid palatal expander loose
Is it normal for a rpe to become loose ?Last week or week before last it was taken out for my teeth to be cleaned and ever since then when it gets turned it's not as tight or pushing my teeth like in the beginning. I went to the dentist today and told him it was loose he really wasnt worried because he said it was still doing it's job. He is supposed to check it again next week and do adjustments if need . Im just wondering if this usually happens if your mouth has been expanded too much ? I don't want anything to hinder the progress im making. I'm one step away from quitting and keeping my raggedy teeth as it is. lol

Loose is ok; but if it gets to the point where it won't stay in without you holding it, make an appt. with your ortho right away instead of not wearing it. When I was a kid I must have bent the wire or something on mine, but I didn't go in right away because I already had an appt. the following week. My ortho had to crank back about a month's worth of progress; the relapse was that fast.
