There is a really good article on the main archwired site called "How Braces Work" and it talks about the bone remodeling process what happens to make your teeth move. You can google gum resorption with braces for a number of articles but it can occur if you move the teeth too quickly and the healthy gum can't keep up. Your root can get exposed and the nerves damaged leading to root canal ouch. Your ortho is the best person to assess your gum & tooth health and figure out how fast you can go. Just keep talking with your ortho about your goals. I make sure I bring a goal or two to each appointment like losing a metal tie in the front or something. Keeps me feeling like I'm progressing. I also always ask her what the next step is and what I can expect to see between now & the next appt. I told her I'm a curious person who likes to learn so she's now prepared for me to ask a bunch of questions without feeling like I'm judging her work.

I have my sister's wedding coming up, which I may be bridesmaid for. How much were you quoted for getting the braces removed for the wedding and then put back on?
