Time between adjustments?

Time between adjustments?
I've been braced for 3.5 weeks. I am not due for my first adjustment for another 4.5 weeks. Is 8 weeks normal? Or is there a normal? It just seems like most of y'all go in monthly. I worry that by going out 8 weeks, we can't make tweaks as quickly as we need to.

Re: Time between adjustments?
I don't think there is a "normal". I think that each treatment plan is individual...the Ortho might need to start out slow, then can progress faster or vice versa.
For me, I mainly have braces to close a diastema. Sure there's a slight overbite and slightly narrow lower jaw...but after 5 months, my diastema is about 80% closed, I go in every 4 weeks and my adjustments seriously take like 10 minutes. MAYBE 15. I'm sure later on, when we're stabilizing, there won't be as much of a need to be seen as often...or maybe my ortho likes to keep a very close eye on things.
Talk to your doc! Good luck!!

Re: Time between adjustments?
I had mine put on in May and my first adjustment is in August so it will be three months. I'm told that appointments become more frequent in the later stages but at the moment, the arch wire is doing its job, there's plenty of movement so no need for adjustments yet.
Re: Time between adjustments?
I have self ligating braces and when I first got them on I went every 6 weeks. Now I have power chains on I have to go every 4 weeks so they can change the power chain.
Re: Time between adjustments?
I was braced yesterday and my first adjustment is in 8 weeks. I don't think it's that uncommon, especially with self ligating brackets since they don't have to change the ligs.
Had Damons (ceramic upper, metal lower) from June 27, 2013 - January 20, 2015
15-18 month sentence, official time in braces was 18 months, 3 weeks, 3 days

Re: Time between adjustments?
Yep, it's normal. My time between appointments changes a lot depending on what the ortho is doing and how much time he thinks things need to be able to see a change. I've had appointment gaps of 2 weeks to 8 weeks and everything in between - I just had an adjustment yesterday and the time between that and my last one was 7 weeks. I just got a powerchain on lowers and a Class 2 elastic on one side and have been told to come back in 5 weeks.
Mostly my appointments have been between 4-6 weeks apart though. But 8 weeks is perfectly normal, I wouldn't worry about it at all!

Re: Time between adjustments?
As I am overseas for 2 months, therefore I have had to make it 9 weeks between appointments - ortho said it was fine. Teeth are still moving (I have self-ligating brackets) and still seeing good changes. Although, I tend to be 'curious', and would like to go in every 4 weeks to ask questions and double check its all going AOK!
I like the adjustment appointments - have only had one so far though- as it means we are making changes and I saw big movement in the days following the last adjustment.

Re: Time between adjustments?
Also want to ask you guys if you know what your ortho does each appointment when they are montly?
My ortho tends to recall me every 2 weeks to change the write for both or sometimes 1 arch only
The ligatures gets changed every time, but I am just wondering, if I get recalled every 2 months and sometimes the wire doesn't even get changed, does it mean people that get recalled every month doesn't get the wire changed also? Just the ligatures?

Re: Time between adjustments?
I think it varies depending on what needs to be done. I remember my adjustments have varied a lot, some 4 weeks some 6 some even longer. I noticed that the closer I am to finish they are roughly every 4 weeks.

Re: Time between adjustments?
My first adjustment will be 4 weeks after getting braces on. I cant wait because Im jealous of everyone seeing progress so soon and after 2 weeks Ive seen none.

Re: Time between adjustments?
My ones have always been 8 weeks apart, I have ceramic uppers and metal lowers. My significant movement was at the beginning of treatment now it's closing a gap so it's been a lot of powerchain changes every 8 weeks. I have to have my back molars braced ( after 15 months treatment) and they told me I should them again in 6 weeks instead of 8.

Re: Time between adjustments?
It varies. On Thursday, I got a new lower arch wire, brackets put on my 2nd molars (lower jaw) and a closed coil spring connecting my first molar to my premolar. Nothing was done to the top arch. Time before, both arches got new wires, and the time before that, only the lower jaw got a new one.

Re: Time between adjustments?
I didn't have my first adjustment until 5 weeks later and he didn't even change the wire. I've had them on almost 3 months now and so far its been in the 3-5 week range.
Re: Time between adjustments?
From my consultations, I've gathered that adjustments are approximately every month for ligating braces and 6-8 weeks for self-ligating ones.
