Bottoms driving me crazy

#1 Post by WiredOldLady »

My bottom braces are driving me NUTS!!! I don't know why, right now they feel sort of tight across the front and I swear I wish I could pop them off! Anybody else ever felt the same? Any ideas how to deal with it?

Thanks in advance!

Well its caused by the pressure on your teeth from having braces. lol.
If its too much just take a painkiller. Usually after a day or two after adjustment i dont feel the pressure pain so much, But i do get pain if i try to chew something or bite into something (based on which tooth is being affected )
You'll get use to it soon enough. Hang in there.

You've only had them a couple of weeks and for many this is the part of treatment with the most dramatic changes. My the time your mouth gets used to one thing, there is a shift and it moves around. Your mouth will get used to them to the point that while you won't entirely forget they are there, you won't be consciously thinking about them either.

YES! My bottom teeth (NOT the top though) feel like this quite often since getting the lowers put on. It's crazy!

I have felt like this too! Some days are worse then others, some days I barely notice the braces, and other days I wish I could just take them out for even a short time (good thing I did NOT choose Invisalign!)!!

Yes!! Tomorrow will be my first week with my bottoms on. It's irritating. I have hooks and pokey things pretty much shredding up my cheeks for the first 5 days, so the ache was not noticeable. Now I def feel them moving...and it hurts...and it sucks...and I can't eat..and when I do I look like a baby and I spill everything I drink down my front now. I'm a mess! I'm right there with ya!

I'm getting bottom Braces in a week. I've got the top ones on and they have taken a while to get used to. I'm nervous about the bottoms because I already have difficulty eating. We shall see. :s

Yeah, it's a good thing I didn't go for invisalign either. Right now, I'm SO tempted to just pop these brackets off. The only thing that feels good on my bottom teeth is coffee...the warmth is soothing. The hooks for the bands are digging into my lips and cheeks, I bite my cheeks every time I eat, and I have a sore on my tongue from poking my tongue in my braces. This is where I'm thinking "WHAT HAVE I DONE"...my teeth were just fine as they were...they didn't look so bad...can I change my mind now?

Oh well...15 and a half to 17 and a half months to go :)

Wax, wax, wax. To bludgeon my lips and cheeks into "accepting" my braces, I wore wax all day, and then used Rincinol and Gly-Oxide at night to soothe things during minor rubbing while I was asleep. This action at night was enough to form the necessary tough spots to handle my braces long-term, while the wax during the day meant I could talk without slicing all that soft tissue into hamburger.
