Crown

#1 Post by Fluffy »

I wanted to hear if any of you have had to replace a crown after finishing your braces treatment – or know that you will have to when your treatment is done? I have a crown on my left bottom side and sometimes it feels as if it’s a bit too high – as if the bite is not quite right

I knew going in that I would probably need to replace the one crown I have. A bit of a bummer because it is only about 4 years old.

Anyway, the teeth on either side of it have erupted taller during my braces treatment and the crown is no longer even. Since it is a molar, I do want it to complete my bite for chewing.

I just got my braces off, but unfortunately can't afford to replace the crown yet. I hope to be able to do so in the not too distant future though.

I may be in the boat. I'm 2 months out from debanding. I just had a filling replaced a couple weeks ago, but the tooth is till really sensitive to cold...I mean über sensitive. I'm about to call the dentist and ask how long I should wait before we consider it a failure and call the endodontist.

Trouble is, I have Vivera tray retainers, so any change in tooth shape is going to be problematic. My dentist is really good and can probably make the new crown fit. Otherwise, it's back to the ortho for new retainers and more money unfortunately.

Oh no that doesn’t sound good Kipepeo, hope that it can somehow get resolved without having to get a new crown – and boy am I envious about the 2 month mark to debanding, best of luck with it :)

And congratulations to you TMJJill with your debanding – hope you’re happy with the result, although it’s sad you can’t get the last finishing touch in place straight away, especially when it involves your bite – the money thing is also one of the things I’m a bit worried about when I get debanded and visit the dentist afterwards for a thorough check up to see how much needs to be done :?
