Diastema feels ready to pop open!!!!
Ok, I had to see if anyone else has had this problem. I've always had a space on my top centrals. On my last ortho apt, they put a power chain on the front teeth..well for the last week or so, the diastema(tissue between the teeth) feels like its being squeezed to death in a vise!!! Hurts like crazy!! Luckily, I have an ortho apt today, so I'm totally bringing it up! Anyone else have this issue? If so, what did your ortho do? TIA

Re: Diastema feels ready to pop open!!!!
How did it go with your ortho?
That was a big concern for us as my diastema was being closed. I started with a 4-5 mm space there and he warned that if it started to squeeze the tissue we may have to do the surgery (forgot what it's called) to remove the tissue. However, as my diastema closed, the tissue retracted (?) It's not bulging behind my teeth and isn't squeezed between.

I had the frenectomy prior to getting the braces and have not had any problems. During my
Initial consultation I asked if the tissue would need to be removed and my ortho referred me to a periodontist who stated that I had a very large Frenum that needed surgery. I was hoping he could just laser it out but apparently there was too much tissue.
