Teeth whitened BEFORE braces?
Did anyone do it? I assumed I would get my teeth whitened after but I was curious to see if anyone had theirs whitened before braces?

Re: Teeth whitened BEFORE braces?
I did not whiten mine either. Mine were pretty white to begin with so I never thought much about it. I also know it can make teeth sensitive, so I probably would have avoided it.

I did it. No problems.
Re: Teeth whitened BEFORE braces?
I whitening mine recently, braces come on in a few weeks.
Due to issues with bonding, after whitening you are supposed to have a 2 week period (minimum) before any composite resin is placed. It's possible there should also be a similar delay before braces are applied (to avoid bonding strength being affected).

Interesting. I just had some bonding done and my dentist told me to whiten beforehand which I did through the night before the procedure.

Also, some of the whitening effect (with gel in trays) can be a result of short term tooth dehydration, so a delay may be a good idea in order to get the best colour match.plugnickel69 wrote:Interesting. So sounds like odd advice to me, but s/he may have valid reasons.
