FoxPass wrote:Products, I can understand. But you pay so much more for the service. I'm sure some metal and plastic won't cost a few thousand more over there than it is over here. I'm guessing doctors and orthos in the US, UK, Canada and Australia are more prone to lawsuits and have much higher insurance.
Work/study in Malaysia for a year or two and get your teeth fixed!
Well, products have to come from somewhere and it's significantly cheaper to pay someone somewhere else to manufacture it than it is to pay an American to do the same job.
As far as treatment goes, I'm sure insurance has a lot to do with it. People over here will sue for just about anything
Had Damons (ceramic upper, metal lower) from June 27, 2013 - January 20, 2015
15-18 month sentence, official time in braces was 18 months, 3 weeks, 3 days
My Story: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtop ... =9&t=45054
our prices are pretty similar SJB, i just turned 22 also in Melbourne and paying $7480 AUD for full braces + retainers, check ups and all that other stuff. Also had the option of getting ceramic braces for the top without extra charge but i decided to go full metal (kind of regret not getting clear top but oh well lol). Im paying $800 every 3 months.
Are you paying it outright or paying it off quarterly?
Mine will cost $7,800 :(. $6,800 for 2 expanders and braces. It's an extra $500 per arch for ceramics which I am doing because I'm 25 years old AND getting married with them on!!
My total cost is $4,565 for Damon braces with clear brackets on the upper social 6. The clear brackets were an extra $250. The downpayment was $895 with the balance due over 18 months.
The total cost includes one set of retainers and, I believe, two years of after-care (I don't have the contract in front of me). Records were an extra $195.
I hit it off with the first orthodontist I saw for a consult, so I didn't shop around for prices. But this seems like a very reasonable cost based on the other prices I'm seeing in this thread. I live in South Carolina.
Mine will work out to be around $7,300.00 AUD estimated treatment time will be 18 months. This does not include pre braces work (extractions, fillings etc). Braces will be metal for both upper and lower
