Hi Everyone,
I had 2 premolars extracted (1 upper, 1 lower) on the left side of my mouth 3 days ago.
Next week, I'm having another 2 premolars extracted, this time it will be on the right side of my mouth. I am so apprehensive, I don't know how I'll manage eating. I can only barely manage right now, eating very slowly, making sure no bits of food get on the side where I had extractions. But I'm going to have 4 holes in my mouth next week, and I have no idea how I'm going to eat. I presume I'll have to stick to liquid diet for a few days? How long do you think before I can return to solid food?
Any help would be much appreciated.

After having the next two removed, it should follow the same timeline as the last few you had out. The ones you had extracted already are going to keep healing up through the next round of extractions, so whenever you start feeling ready for solid food the old extractions shouldn't be any problem. When I had my extractions done, I stuck to mashed potatoes and other "pureed" foods for about 4-5 days before I started eating soft solid foods, but I had molars out as well and it seemed like those didn't heal up as fast as the premolars (plus I ended up with a nasty dry socket). After the first 24 hours, as long as you rinse your mouth out gently after eating anything you shouldn't have to worry too much about food being in the socket. In fact, my oral surgeon gave me this plastic syringe to irrigate the extraction sites after meals to dislodge food and stuff. It's kinda gross but does the trick
Good luck with all of it, and think about how nice it's going to be when all is said and done!

Re: 4 Extractions - Advice needed on how to eat?
I had four premolars out and braces on teeth on the same day!
My diet consisted of jelly, scrambled eggs, and mashed banana for about the first week. I would put small pieces in back of my mouth and swallow without chewing at all.
Was scared of getting dry socket / infection, but dentist said it was unusual to get dry socket in premolars. I used saltwater rinse and didn't touch the extraction sites, even if I thought I saw food stuck there. I used warm salt water rinse and moved head around to get it to rinse out mouth - NO swishing or swirling as it can dislodge the blood clot that needs to form to heal over the extraction site.
Hope this helps and good luck

I had a lower tooth pulled on Friday, my dentist told me that my other front teeth are a little wiggly so I chew on my back teeth - I have to keep my bottom teeth unbraced for the next week and a half to allow the extraction site to heal, then I'm getting the wire and bands back on
