Soreness from Tads

#1 Post by oldfart »

Exam Tues, Tad Placement Thursday. Only thing that seemed odd was they were asking about IV sedation. They said they would do local though. (for the cost). My ortho doesnt do them, she refers those to an oral Surgeon.

Anyone recently had a tad placed, and what was soreness afterwards? Outside of the top jaw, between two pre molars for me.

Directions from ortho:

"Please place a buccal tad between the roots of 12 and 13. We plan to use indirect anchorage to 13 for protraction of 15. If possible, please use a screwhead that allows a retangular wire to go through the slot".

Suppose it shouldnt poke into my cheek anymore than the brackets.

Will be interesting.

Let us know how it goes! I'm supposed to have TAD placement in January, and my ortho told me that local anesthetic would be all that was necessary (to which I replied, yeah right, that and a Xanax maybe :yikes:).

Best of luck!!

The link to my story is in my signature and I dont think I specified where my TAD's were but it is where yours will be placed.

Mine has hit a road block known as my wife. The 'We need to save money for christmas and we should just wait until tax returns' issue. Okay, she is right, but still not happy.

There is other sesame that needs to be cleaned up so its not a total waste of four months. But still not happy with having to postpone this part of my treatment.
