and i am in sooooo much pain!!!!! the bleeding wont stop what should i do. u see these extractions are so that i can get a brace which will eventually push my teeth in. my teeth are protruding slightly and so this will make them go in.

Mai, I'm so sorry to hear you're in pain. I had 2 premolar extractions last week and had no pain at all. For the bleeding, my dentist had me bite down on folded damp gauge squares for an hour after the extractions. I changed them twice during the hour. Make sure they are damp when you put them on the extraction site so they don't stick. I had very minimal bleeding after that. My dentist also said that I could moisten a tea bag and bite on that to help stop the bleeding, but it wasn't necessary.

Try to stay calm. Remember, the blood is mixing with saliva in your mouth so there probably isn't as much blood as you might think - it just looks like a lot.

Hope this helps.

I had two teeth pulled for the same reason. To pull back my upper teeth b/c of an overbite. I thought the bleeding would never stop. Someone posted something about tea bags helping? Do a search around the forum for it.

Thankfully the extractions for me didnt hurt at all. I was mostly in shock over it though. I was so afraid of biting into something and my front teeth falling out! LOL I'm ok now. And after a year, the gaps are closing up. :)

Hang in there!

hey thanks a lot for your advice. that was really kind of you. the bleding has finally stopped. my mouth does feel a little salty though. i know that's normal though. however, i'm worried that once the brace is put on and tightened that my gaps wills till not close up. i know thats silly to think like that, and that most likely they will close eventually, however, i cant help but worry and think that this is what my mouth will always look like....i'm a terrible worrier. hehe!

I felt the same way! It wasnt until recently (after close to a year) that I can finally see that they will close up. Many people have had the same thing and all turned out great :) So try not to worry too much.

i' going to try not to. how many teeth do you have on each side of your mouth. i had seven on each side until they pulled out two from each side, so now i'm left with six on each side. what's the standard number of teeth in an adult's mouth?

I was worried about the same thing. My ortho promises me that he can get the extraction gaps closed up. I think it will be OK.
