Removing braces soon - Advice

#1 Post by rlpaige »

I'm nervous and anxious at the same time. For G. I. Issues I'm having my braces removed. I don't know what to expect or even how to prepare. Any advice from anyone who has has their braces removed let me know in detail your experience. Thanks!

Assuming you have metal braces, the usual tool (although there are several) has a little wire loop that wraps around the tie wings, and tensions them (this bends the bracket slightly); the bracket will pop right off with just a little tug. My ortho usually then goes at it with another tool to try and chip some of the cement off. He then uses a small grinding bit to sand down whatever leftovers remain.

I'm curious, by "G.I. issues" do you mean gastrointestinal? Since you mentioned it it sparked my interest!

So long as you don't mind the sound of cement being chipped off, it's easy as pie!
Don't be nervous!!
