Severity of underbite if fixed with braces?

#1 Post by vincent168 »

Hi,

Basically I used to have an underbite where the lower teeth overlapped the upper teeth. With no extractions but braces and elastics only my underbite was corrected. However I feel my face is still very long and wondering whether I need surgery anyway?
Like if my underbite can be fixed with braces does it mean that surgery isn't needed since the the skeletal problem is very minor? Or does it mean that it can fix the teeth but there can still be significant jaw problems (long face)?

Thanks for any advice!
