Glade they are out for you!:) I just got all 4wisdom tooth and 2 upper pre molars out 3weeks ago. There is still some swelling of the gums and my right tongue is partially numb. The dentist recommend me to eat vitamin b to heal faster. Its I am going to get braces in 2mth time!:)
Re: Wisdom teeth
Thanks, jessicachung! It seems as though swollen gums are a common occurrence after such a procedure. I picked up Peridex (an oral rinse by prescription only) last night and used it twice so far. I hope it helps!jessicachung wrote:Glade they are out for you!:) I just got all 4wisdom tooth and 2 upper pre molars out 3weeks ago. Congratulations, Matilda!
I was told that I need to have two removed before I get my braces. I have some anxiety about it, but I know that it is for the best.

Re: Wisdom teeth
I have the same, wisdom extraction during braces. They werent planned for extraction but during treatment I start to have inflammation around them. So far I had one wisdom extracted and that was good decision because of inflammation healing process was disturbed and I have to gonne through a lot of pain and huge swelling lockjaw
I have second extraction at April

I'm debraced after 2 rears and 1 weak of treatment.
Re: Wisdom teeth
I have one wisdom tooth remaining, I am seriously thinking of getting it removed before my lowers are installed, but it helps me chew my food on that one side lol. My ortho and dentist said it's no problem, but if I can't eke it cleaned back there I may have to get it out. I have had 5 teeth removed in 2 months....geesh....good luck!

Re: Wisdom teeth
Shiry, if it is useful for chewing just live it and see whats happen, mine was and is partially erupted and never helps chew any food so it was for extraction anyway just not from orthodontics reasons, my ortho thinks wisdoms teeth are overestimated and they don't push front teeth inward, because they go there anyway

Thanks, Valentina! Don't worry, the procedure is fairly quick and painless.Valentina wrote:Congratulations, Matilda!

Re: Wisdom teeth
Please someone correct me if I'm wrong but I was told by my dentist and orthodontist if an upper or lower wisdom tooth is extracted the opposing wisdom tooth has to be removed as well due to potential bite issues. Teeth are designed to balance and work together. Unbalance can cause malfunction.Shiry wrote:I have one wisdom tooth remaining, I am seriously thinking of getting it removed before my lowers are installed, but it helps me chew my food on that one side lol. Re: Wisdom teeth

My swelling went down after eating a month of swelling meds. My tongue is still numb. Orto says it may take 6 mth to a year to heal. Oh my.... :( but I am trying to not think about it.

I'm glad to read your swelling decreased. Be positive!jessicachung wrote:My swelling went down after eating a month of swelling meds. My tongue is still numb. Orto says it may take 6 mth to a year to heal. Oh my.... but I am trying to not think about it.
Re: Wisdom teeth
I remember getting mine extracted. I used rincinol for the swelling and incision sites and they healed really quickly. Keep your chin up ladies! And remember straws are the enemy!
