oral appliance and sex

#1 Post by ducky1900 »

I just got a TAD put in smack dab in the middle of the roof of my mouth. Next week i get a TPA attached to the TAD and put in the roof of my mouth so my back teeth don't move. Then on the same day i get my braces on too (top jaw) after that=] finally=] anyways i looked on here and couldn't exactly find the answer-i'm assuming going down on my partner (guy) isn't gonna happen anytime soon? I asked my ortho and he said that the TAD and TPA would be in the majority of my treatment time-around 4 years=[ There isn't anything I could get that would cover it? I can't think of anything besides a retainer.

Hmmm, while I wouldn't want to inflict a gratuitous TAD and TPA on my wife in the name of science, I imagine that if it's a problem (and I'm not sure it would be), you could get some VERY thin vinyl tubing from a hardware store, put a slit in it, and slide it over the TPA. (I don't think wax would hold an a TPA which goes from one end of the arch to another, but it would work for the TAD.)

I use both. Wax is easier to place when I am out and about, but I use the stuff or silicone at night or if I am home and can use it. I keep wax for emergencies.
