cold sensitivity

#1 Post by peaches »

After 6 months with a distalizer and 2 1/2 years in braces, I had all but 4 of my brackets removed and new brackets put on three days ago. Went from damon clear on top, metal on bottom to non self ligating brackets on top and bottom. Since the change I'm having major cold sensitivity on the lower arch from canine to canine. I'm wondering how common this is, because I don't remember this happening the first time I had brackets put on. If you did have this, how long did it last?

I had that happen after one of my adjustments. That was just a wire change, but my top 2 front teeth became sooo sensitive afterwards. It was a pain that shot through my entire body and it was triggered by anything even moderately cold. Fortunately, it only lasted about a week. If it goes on longer than a week or so, I'd give your ortho a call and see what they say.
Had Damons (ceramic upper, metal lower) from June 27, 2013 - January 20, 2015
15-18 month sentence, official time in braces was 18 months, 3 weeks, 3 days

Thanks, I hope is it gone in a week! I have to drink through a straw and warm up the water before I brush my teeth.
