Molar extraction

#1 Post by System »

Hello, I am new here. So silly me did not get a second opinion before getting some teeth extracted. I had one top molar and a bottom molar extracted yesterday and I'm supposed to go in next week to get the other side done. My question is why would my orthodontist choose to extract my molars instead of premolars which is what I usually see around here?

Sorry for the triple post, but how long does it usually for gums to stop being sore after an extraction?

I had one molar out and once the aneasthetic wore off, it wasnt too bad. Took a few ibuprofen and after a day had no pain at all.

Everyone is different though, If in doubt contact the dentist that took it out for reasurance.

Hi there
I had my first molars extracted for braces. They were all strong and healthy except for one. It was the worst decision of my life and I still have not worked out why they did this. My face shape is now horrible, there are still gaps, some of my premolars were chopped during the traumatic extraction process. The reason they usually choose molars is because they are heavily filled or even some are missing - was this the case with you? All I can say is iff I could go back to the point you are at I would get implants in place of the ones they extracted and then get a second opinion on how to progress though I would rather have my crooked teeth than what I'm left with. Sorry... Hope it works out ok though
