questions about braces and nance

#1 Post by blahhh123 »

hi I'm a newcomer to this web :)
I already visited the dentist for a in depth check and I'm getting my braces in approximately august. My dentist said that my jaw was tilted a bit towards the right so it will be better to get 3 teeth extracted instead of 4 or 2. And plus anyone know about what exactly a nance is? The dentist told me that I'm going to need one to stop my back molars from moving forward, and I will need to go to the dentist 4 times next month to get that appliance on. Does a nance hurt a lot? People say it digs into your roof of the mouth...... and is a nance only used for your upper jaw? Thanks a lot!

The only reason I ever felt like my nance was digging was because I had a closing loop that was hard at work. The Nance itself isn't painful. The worst is keeping it clean. No worries. Just power through.
