What type of brackets do you have, and do you get ulcers?

Hello!

I'd be grateful if you could respond to these 4 questions about bracket type and canker sore:

1. What type of bracket do you have? (Metal, tooth-coloured ceramic, clear ceramic, sapphire, self-ligating ceramic...)
2. What brand are the brackets- if known? (Clarity, damon, inOvation C, inspire ice etc..)
3. How often have you experienced canker sores as a result of bracket rubbing since you've been braced?
4. How often did you have canker sores before you were braced?

I'm hoping to establish whether certain types of brackets cause more ulcers than others..or if ulcers always occur regardless of bracket type. Thanks guys

4. How often did you have canker sores before you were braced? I would say very rarely.

3. How often have you experienced canker sores as a result of bracket rubbing since you've been braced? Maybe 2 or 3 times, but only at the start. I have had several mouth ulcers from poking wires, though.
4. How often did you have canker sores before you were braced? Almost never.

Tooth colored ceramics on both top & bottom but I don't know the brand. In terms of the sores, I didn't get them before the braces but I get them on & off now. Quite a few in the beginning of course. Now, usually only the first couple days after either a new wire or a new rubber band configuration. I love the Kanka brand softbrush gel. I can get it right where I need it most because of the pen shape with a brush on the end. It has something to numb the pain a little and medicine to help the sore heal faster. Works like a charm for me.

Good question. I also suspect as you likely do that some people are just prone to ulcerations.

Stainless Steel 3M Victory's
I got ulcers at the beginning from the rear tubes, wires, and a couple of the rubber band hooks.
I got random ulcers every 3 months or so from a tooth moving and the hook for that tooth rubbing.
Never got ulcers before or after braces.
