Hi all!
I intend on getting my wife braces to correct some issues with her teeth. We have been to an orthodontist for a consultation and was quoted $7800 for Ceramic In-Ovation C uppers and lowers. I would like some opinion on the matter to see if this price is justifiable or is this way too expensive?
Background: My wife was born with two missing incisors so she has been wearing flippers all her life to cover up the two teeth. To add to this, she was in an accident in her teen years which knocked out an additional tooth that was next to one of the incisors for a total of three missing teeth. In total; one tooth on her left incisor side is missing, while two teeth (one incisor and one directly adjacent to it) is missing on the other side. This is all on the top row of her teeth.
The procedure: In preparation for dental implants to replace the missing teeth, the dental surgeon suggested getting braces to correct all her teeth first before proceeding with the dental implants. We went to an orthodontist who suggested that he can move the top row of teeth to where it will fill in one of the missing teeth gap so that we only need two implants instead of three (implants will be the incisors only). The bottom row is just standard crowding and crooked lower teeth which is easily fixable per the orthodontist. In all he said it will be approximately a 20 month process. This is located in Denver Colorado for reference.
Does the price seem normal or is it high?
Thanks all!!

Re: Brace noobie question
Prices can vary greatly depending on your location. Your best bet is to have a couple of consults with several orthodontists in your area. I know it takes some leg work but, you'll see a closer to normal answer than some guy in NY like me saying I paid $X for my braces. And you'll see some different approaches in your wife's treatment.
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

$6900 here in the DC area, so it does not seem to far out of line.

It may be high in relation to other areas, but in the end the only valid standard of comparison is with other orthodontists you'd be willing to go through treatment with.
Yes, orthodontists make a lot of money, but it all comes down to supply and demand. If there were more orthodontists out there, pricing would come down.

Re: Brace noobie question
I am getting Inovation braces but only have 6 of the front top teeth in ceramic and the rest of the top/bottom in metal. The quoted cost was $6075 plus $360 for the 6 ceramic so $6435 total. Now, if I were to do all of that way, it would be closer to your quote. I did get different consultations with different prices so I would shop around. My portion for the whole thing is just over $3300 with my insurance and I am an adult so I figure this is really good. They gave me a discounted price since they were a preferred provider.
