Hey! im in the 10th grade as well, and in august, i had to take my school pictures. i decided to stick to one color, pastel pink, because it was the color that i had used the very first time i got my braces, and i was proud of my braces, fresh ligs, and my smile has improved SO much and i was so proud, because in all of my pictures my teeth are spaced, and this is my first school picture where i have really nice teeth, and i might not get the chance to flaunt my braces smile junior year (but hey thats not a bad thing!) so go ahead and do it! honestly even when you smile, goofy smile or not, it looks better than hiding it. hope u SMILEEEE. :frogbraces:

The company that takes my kids' school pictures has an option for editing out braces, blemishes, etc. I don't think I would go so far as to edit out braces in my picture, but zits are never cute, I would definitely do that.

Cool, I didn't know there were that many people the same age as me here, I don't see that many post. :D

Well picture day is over and I survuved. I have no idea how it came out but I smiled a little, not as big as I would without the braces but I guess I never really used to smile that big anyway. I think you will be able to see the braces but maybe not the gaps. I'm getting sick of these gaps!!!! Supposedly the teeth will be a lot closer to where they should be by the end of the year, or so my ortho says. :GapToothed:

Hey Miss Cassidy! I know how you feel. I'm a senior in high school and am in the process of taking my senior pictures. I can get them edited out but I do see them before hand with my braces on. It's hard seeing yourself with braces, or at least it is for me. Especially in pics with my brace-free friends. It will look (my opinion) very awkward if you were to not open your mouth in any picture. I know you may not exactly be happy to have them on, but don't be ashamed of them. You'll have them off soon enough. Glad to hear your picture day went well. Just think, you'll have them off before you're a senior and then you'll be in a better position than i am! I'm going to college with mine! I'm sure you're beautiful with or without the braces, you just have to know that yourself! Good luck! :D

I know that I am way too late on this post and that I am a lot older than you. But coming from the mom side , I can relate with your mom. But coming from someone with braces, I know how you feel. I say just do what feels comfortable for you. It is your choice  I don't know if it is because of my age, but I like flashing my metal smile.

You are much more aware of your own teeth than anyone else is.

It takes people forever to even figure out I even have braces on and I have metal brackets w/ wire ties.

Personally, the only time I notice peoples teeth is when they are rotten, and that disturbes me some. (Granted, being newly braced I look more often, but most people don't.)

Forget about them. I've had mine on about a month and a half and I've forgotten already.

Anybody who is worth caring about will know that you are on a self improvement journey and that the gaps and hardware are just part of it. Most people I talk to are jealous that I'm able to do something about mine when they wish they could. So what if they are messed up right now, they won't be soon, and you'll have something to be proud of.

Smile how you feel comfortable smiling. Don't think about the picture, just be happy. Think about the photographers funny looking shoes, or that he's got a booger or something. You'll know you don't look as funny as he does!
