Hi guys,
Just thought I'd post an update!...
Well I had my first follow up appointment yesterday after two weeks of having the IA fitted and I have to say I came out of there extremely pleased!
My dentist showed me my original impression cast and I was really surprised by how much my teeth had moved already!
He did me a scale and polish and did some more filing in between my teeth and added to the original pressure point (composite blob) to add more pressure in the direction of my one particularly protrusive tooth!
My speech has improved so much too so the past two weeks have been so worth it!
My dentist says I will have another follow up appointment (booked for the 18th July) and then he's hoping the appointment after that will be to fit the clear aligner and the composite splint! Which means if I keep up wearing the aligner as much as I have done I may only have four weeks left!
Just goes to show its all worth it so keep persevering guys!

Great news, sounds like you'll be done before me now. Glad things have improved with your speech too. You have probably seen my post earlier today, I had my 2nd review today and I just have 1mm to go before the impression can be taken for my clear retainer, so I'll be looking at another 5 weeks with the AL in place, review in 3 weeks the impression then it takes the lab 10 days to get the retainer ready. It feels so good when you get a good result, I know I was hoping it would be a quicker result but, like my dentist said, he wants me to have the best result so I just need to be patient for a little longer. I have to say, it's nice to feel the pressure of the AL again after todays adjustment, my teeth ache a bit this afternoon and it is much harder to put back in place.

Thank you cjfarmgate, the encouragement on this forum is so helpful! Cmeak28 its amazing to hear your teeth have moved in just 2 weeks.
I'm due back at the dentist tomorrow for a filling in one of my teeth, and all going well my impressions for my inman aligner will be taken!! I'll keep you all posted as to how it goes, Oharecr we might be on the same time scale! I think my teeth are on the more severe end of the scale. Although I only have one tooth visibly behind the others, I think they are quite crowded.
Sounds like you are all making great progress, delighted to hear you are all so happy, and that you feel the speech gets even a little bit better. The only thing that might hold me back now is that I'm only working half of this year so won't have paid enough tax to get any tax relief, whereas if I wait until next year I'll get 20% back. Maybe my dentist will agree to just write me a receipt in January instead of now!! :)

Thanks cjfarmgate, only went for the initial consultation yesterday. Had my teeth measured, X-rays taken and photographs taken. I now have to wait until 21 July to see if I am ok to continue. If I am at the next appointment I will have my imprints taken.

Got my impressions taken yesterday so its full steam ahead! Back on the 31st July for the fitting, thats just before a public holiday weekend here in Ireland, don't know if thats a good or a bad thing.. At least I won't be in work so I can hide in my house all weekend if I have to!! ;)

I got mine last Wednesday, so day 9 tomorrow. When I think back to this time last week, what a difference in how the aligner feels. Speech still isn't great, but it has improved. Putting it in and taking it out is no problem anymore either, I just can't wait to see some changes in my teeth now!

Hello, I am new here.
I am currently getting my teeth whitened at the dentist and got into a discussion with him about orthodontics. I have been so self conscious of my top front tooth for so long, it has really affected my self esteem and I always smile with my mouth closed in photos. Looking at the moulds he took i was shocked how far it actually sticks out (think i was trying to ignore the fact for so long but secretly really hated it with a passion). Basically, from thumb sucking as a child into my late 20's (I'm embarrassed to say), my top left tooth massively sticks out. I'm so self conscious about it. Remarkably the rest of my top teeth are fine, but sometimes it just pops out from between my lips and it looks like I have one tooth! Think Nanny Mcphee!! I fear it is getting worse too (wisdom teeth pushing them?).
I'm 41 now and finally have the means to pay for treatment. I like the sounds of the Inman. I've read some of your posts and really admire the way you just got on with it at work etc. I'm a stay at home mum and wonder if this is a treatment I could do in the privacy of my own home or in front of family etc but I really don't want to be at the school gates wearing a brace! I know it may take longer but am prepared for that having lived with my ugly tooth for so long. To think that one day I may have straight front teeth would be like a dream come true!
Would it be possible to wear it at night and throughout the day but take it out from time to time?
I'm really considering starting this in September when the summer hols are over.

Update
Well had my second review today, having had my aligner about 4 weeks. Really really pleased with progress so far. My teeth were very overcrowded and I can just about see the whole of both of my front teeth! My original treatment time was 16 weeks but I can't believe it's going to be that long. Had a bit more filing today and apparently will have a composite blob on the front at the next review. I've got 2 at the back of my teeth at the moment. Next review 25th July.

Your story is similar to mine, only I asked about teeth whitening while routinely seeing the hygienist because I hated my teeth and thought it might help. She suggested seeing the dentist about an aligner, so 2 days later I saw him, and 2 weeks later I was having it fitted!! I'm 45 and I have young children and I wear mine all the time including the school gates, as well as work. Don't worry about it, I can honestly say I've had 3 people at school say that they have always wanted straight teeth and might now go for it. I have had a couple of people comment on having it done at my 'time of life' but the majority have been fine. Yes I was a bit embarrassed at first, especially as sports day was in my first week and I saw 'everyone I know at school' but I got through it. It's up to you if you just wear at home and night, but the more you wear it the quicker the treatment.

I've got 2 composite blobs or rather I did have, on the back of a couple of teeth. One's fallen off today, the other seems to be keeping the aligner in place. Should I worry? I'm due at the dentist on Wednesday anyway for my 2 weekly appointment, so I presume okay to hang on?

I am still researching this treatment at the moment (the teeth whitening is going really well and I can already see a difference on day 3!).
My concern is my front left tooth sticks out considerably but the teeth behind are straight and aligned BUT there doesn't look like much room for the front tooth to be pushed back if you see what I mean? It's as if the teeth next to it have moved into the gap slightly. I did get my wisdom teeth 2 years ago and I wonder if this has pushed the row along.
I have a small mouth and as a child had many tooth extractions. I have read of a 'palatial expander' and am not entirely sure what this is. I googled it and found examples used in children. It looks horrible! Is this something I would have to use prior to treatment to make room for the front tooth to slot back into?

First of all, glad the teeth whitening is working.
Inman aligner may help your protruding tooth but you really need to take advice from your dentist. Finally got mine today! There was a delay with the lab and then he thought that it wasn't going to fit. He eventually got it in and said it was the tightest one he'd ever seen due to my mouth being so overcrowded. He thought that it was the first one out of 800 inmans that he would have to send back because it didn't fit. Luckily it fits fine but he said there's no room for composite blobs until my next visit. Speech is proving to be very difficult at the minute. I'm based in co.meath. Hiding at the minute too, I'm a teacher so I'm off until September. However, going on a two week holiday in two weeks! Hoping my speech will have improved by then. The upside is they might stop me from overindulging on my cruise!
