Help! Braces just off no retainer for a week.

I just got my braces off and they are sending my impressions for my retainer so I will get in a few days. I woke up this morning and I'm ALREADY seeing movement in my teeth. By bottom teeth that were perfectly straight have shifted a little.

What happens now, will the clear retainer even fit? Does anyone have experience with this?

Well, the people with braces don't (usually) have experience with retainers.

You are going to be a little sore, and it'll be tight, but it should still fit.

they will fit...it'll be a bit uncomfortable for the first day or so. I got my braces off on 8/26, got my top retainer that Thursday and my bottom one on Sept 1. If I leave my retainers off for a few hours, they can be sort of uncomfortable for the first hour or so after I put them back in but then they're fine. My goal is 22 hours a day right now but...when they start bugging me, out they come! I do make sure I wear them overnight though.

Why are they left for a week? My ortho said that when I'm debraced it'll be first thing in the morning, moulds taken and retainers made up the same day, then fitted in the afternoon.

It'll be fine. I had 6 days after being debraced before I got my retainer and my teeth shifted in that time too. The retainer feels tight at first but it moves the teeth back into their old position within hours.
