Bracket Repositioning--I snuck a pic with them off!

#1 Post by hukillmommy »

Yesterday I went for a long visit, for which my ortho was going to do some filing of teeth and to reposition a bracket. I had no idea they were going to take off 7 brackets and reposition them! While I was waiting on the ortho to come see after the assistant removed them, I took out my phone and snapped a pic. I love how my teeth are coming along so quickly!

In fact, my original sentence was 2.5 years. I got the braces put on top and bottom this year in January (10 months ago). Now, the ortho says I have done so well with wearing my elastics, I only have 6-9 more months left! Woohoo!

It really, really pays to wear your elastics. My ortho said I saved myself surgery and shaved a year off my sentence all because I wear them so faithfully!

Fun! Did it hurt getting those off? I like your one bracket that is still there! Looks like tooth jewelry.

Beckyboo, surprisingly it did not hurt. The worst part was them scraping the old glue off to make a good surface for thenew bracket. It just sounds like nails scraping a chalkboard but it doesnt hurt! My sister also said it looked like a diamond on the front tooth! Haha.

Thank you all! Yes Professor, I am thrilled...beyond thrilled. I cant believe that I may only have these on for 18 months, when I was preparing for twice as long.

My ortho couldn't stress enough that it was my wearing the elastics that made the difference. It took a while but I finally have an overbite and it is all thanks to those pesky rubber bands! I know you cant see it in the before picture, but i had a crooked edge to edge bite and the ortho thought for sure I would need jaw surgery. I loved proving him wrong!

Now, if I can only get the courage to ask him he will give me a discount now! Lol

Congratulations on the great progress!

I'm glad to hear getting brackets removed didn't hurt. I had a Carriere Distalizer removed and it hurt like crazy. I think two of the teeth weren't quite set yet, but it has left me terrified that all these brackets on my teeth will have to come off eventually.
